not if they don't have the spending power ^^;;;. Sony needs to stop coming out with things that are so god damn expensive, I'm personally getting really sick of it.

MH is already a proven evergreen title on PSP...and I think it will follow a slow burn to a couple million over time on wii. This means it will not cause Wii sales to spike, but might increase it's weekly average over time. The same may be true for Dq9. I dont expect multiple millions by the end of the year...but lifetime will be very significant. As for FF13, I can see it selling a million in japan by years end...maybe 1.5, but it's going to have minimal effect on console sales. 1 reason I think this is because it's being released during a high demand period and the HW spike will be significant already. Another is that FF13 will release on a system with only 3.2 million install base in Japan. |
I think MH will spike consoles because of
1) New Color
2) Bundle
3) A slight bump from the game itself
As for DQ, I don't know how much of a slow burn will occur, if it is anything like DQVIII we will see 2M+ first week sales.
@Auxumblade: I am only talking about games that will make a major impact in the Japenese market. I do not think KZ2, InFamous and Heavy Rain will have an effect in Japan. If I was talking about western markets, I would have included them. Also, we have no indication of GT5, which would have been listed if there were major indications that it would release. Same with the slim. The things I put on the Nintendo list are all 100% sure releases.
If you have any games that you would like to add for the Japenese market then add them as it would help the discussion. But I do not know of any.
Lastly on the PSPGo, there are two major flaws for the Japenese market (only one in the western one).
1) Price. It costs as much as a wii and more than a dsi (This is true in Japan. It is about $250 there too). This right here hurts alot for all markets. I think everyone can agree on this.
2) This is major in Japan, but not here imo (I think western markets are better for DD, but this is not the thread to go into western DD), the DD factor. Japan likes physical media. Not being able to have physical media will hurt the psp go alot. I expect the 3000 to outsell the go until it is discontinued. Remember, used games are HUGE in Japan, they love selling back games they beat.
Now Playing: The Witcher (PC)

That's your personal opinion on the matter.I agree it's a little too expensive but I don't think that'll deter people as much as you think it will. Exactly how much are Sony charging for the PSP Go! in Japan anyway? |
only that most asian peole are cheap like me, anyways, 250 USD>yen, however much the conversion will be when it launches.

| Aiemond said: Well, after the announcement of MH3 bundle with black wii and the red dsi Nintendo has won Japan for the year. I don't think there really can be any argument now. Lets take a look at what is coming that will impact the Japenese market for both Sony and Nintendo:
Nintendo: MH3 Bundles Black Wii Red dsi (on dqix day) DQIX WSR bundle NSMB Wii |
Lets not forget:
- Mario & Sonic, Winter Olympics (medium impact)
- WM+ (huge)
- WiiFitPlus (huge++)
Still hoping Ninty will pull out a new Mario Party Wii sometime...
Gesta Non Verba
Nocturnal is helping companies get cheaper game ratings in Australia:
Wii code: 2263 4706 2910 1099
I think they'd rather have a DSi and 2-3 games in that case tbh, people will just buy the old PSP instead of GO for the most part if anything.

and that's a stereotype. x.o |
that's because I'm Asian, some stereotypes are true.

you are forgetting the price tag on the current PSP in Japan dood, if Sony still can't learn from their mistakes from the past, so video game god help them.

we don't really know if MH can sell on the console. MH (PSP) is loved in Japan for it's community style gaming. Wii is not portable, and does not encourage net play.
It will be interesting to see how it actually sells.

If Monster Hunter G is any indication, it'll do just fine.

They are also keeping the PSP-3000 on the market for people who would rather spend less money and get the UMD with DD still a possibility through the memory card in case they don't want the UMD. |
that's my point man, PSP GO will be a NO GO for awhile lol.
