Sorry to bring this old argument back, but if Asians are so cheap. Then why do they pay more (much more) for games and movies? Why did 400k+ pay more than $100 for the standard edition of MGS4?

Its the reliance on Digital Download and the price that is going to hurt the go. DD will kill it.

Also, I don't have a prediction for Sam Warrior. It could do that, or it could do alot less. I really don't know much about the series or the spinoffs that released.

I don't understand why you think DD will kill it..

Because the Japenese market likes physical copies of software. I don't think their level of acceptence of DD is near what it is in the west.

How do you know that though? We don't really get a listing for the PSP DD sales and Nintendo's offerings on the DSi have been terrible thus far so I wouldn't doubt that most people wouldn't bother buying them. The only game I'm interested in on the DSiware is Mario vs. Donkey Kong 3.

1 thing is that used game market is very big(or piracy) like you've stated before as I remember, when you try to force people to spend that money, they will just wait longer for a price drop instead because they know they can never sale them back, for some reason, westerners don't mind people leeching their money away(XBL, out of warranty 360s breaking down then buying new ones, itune actually more expensive, zune fucks you without subscription, all these services you don't even need, the average american spending is the highest in the world etc.) it's actually quiet mind blowing.

Western world is a very "right now" oriented society. As long as it works now and I can have it now. Thats why RROD etc has not been as big an issue as it could have been. Convienience is king.

because the collector's market means they might be able to sell them at a higher price when needed way in the future, a lot of them are never opened. also idiots are all over the world, the question is the ratio of it.

That describes why we'd accept it but it doesn't speak specifically of anything to do necessarily with the Japanese market. Pirates in all likelihood will still pirate

it's just the general way of thinking is different, if it's going to cost them more in the long run, they just might not bother.

Youre forgetting Gran Turismo 5 and Resonance of Fate for PS3 and
FF13 Agito & Kingdom Hearts:Birth By Sleep for PSP

The general way of thinking might be different but what you are saying is a generalization based on an opinion...

there are always going to be a few exceptions, but that's how society works. I'm gonna stop talking about these things though, a lot of you don't seem to understand what I'm trying to say due to cultural differences. there are only things you can understand if you've interacted with a lot of the general public, after all, the blue ocean was only an opinion turned into fact due to Nintendo's success, wasn't it?

We have no idea when GT is coming, there is no release date or indication of when the release date will be. Also, Resonance of fate is unknown, we really have no idea what this will do but it is not NEAR the same level as a GT, MH, Mario, FF, etc. Trying to claim it is would be lunacy. As for your last two, we have no indication of release date.

Lastly, KH:BBS is going to have a similar effect as 358/2. FF13 agito will have a smaller impac t than DQIX, FFXIII + GT5 will be similar or less than NSMB wii (the ds sold 15 mil worldwide) + WiiFit+ + WSR + MH3.

So, even with those you listed (and I mentioned above why they are not. Notice I didn't add KH:358/2 in my list) nintendo seems to come out way ahead.

I'm merely just trying to say that you don't know the unknown. And this is a situation that nobody really knows what the impact will be...The only thing I can predict is a major boost for the first few weeks since there's always that whenever new hardware comes out. But afterward, there is nothing that I can be completely certain of.

in that case! I predict, good sales for the first month, then people go back to PSP, lol, and black Wii + MH3 bundle is going to make a killing, prolly not DS or PSP lvls of killing, but it should do well. I wish my Wii was black, in more than one ways.

Prediction:

Dragon Quest 9 first week > PS3 japan lifetime sales.

lol. So 3 million?

That certainly will not happen.

hense the lol. I can believe 2 million maybe since the last one made that in a week but I doubt 3 million.

3 million first week is just too much. 2-2.5 milion would be reasonable expectation though. However, I think it's possible for DQ9 to become the first DQ game to sell 3 million in two weeks and replace DQ7 as the best selling DQ game in the series.

Yes, here we go. People need to realize that while the DS is huge, the PS2 was also extremely popular and it has a higher attach rate.

We can, in all likelihood, expect the DS version to do better. Let's not get ahead of ourselves though.

The DS is nearing the PS2's instal base. The system has also shown it can sell these games. While 3 million in a week is probably not going to happen, it can happen in uit's life time, and it wouldn't be the first time it happened.
