Khuutra said: ironman, that is not what "advanced" means.
I'm an avid 360 gamer. I'm playing Ninja Gaiden II right now. Console bias isn't entering into this.
Natal is not more advanced than the Wiimote. It's just different. It might do more in some aspects and less in others, but that doesn't make it more or less advanced, it just means it takes a different approach to motion sensing technology. |
So what is your definition of "more advanced"? It isnt more advanced hardware. It isnt more advanced software. It isnt a piece of hardware where the some of the parts adds up to a complex device.

THe problem here is that you're thinking in terms of linear progression, which is absolutely fine, but you can't think in terms of linear progression across two different methodologies.
WM+ is more advanced than the Wiimote.
Natal is more advanced than the Eyetoy (assuming the Eyetoy doesn't use an object to perceive depth and so forth).
The two lines of advancement are not directly comparable. It would be like saying that the Wright brother's first airplane is more advanced than a hydrogen cell car, because it can fly and the car can't.

I see what you're saying and agree.
As for the tech in side I would say Natal is more advanced like a cell car is more advanced than the first plane. Due to the fact that both are trying to offer motion capture and control n their own ways they will be lumped together even though its different tech. The similarities are too striking for most people to not see how they are different.
Personally I would be surprised if there wasn't a Wiimote type controller eventually for natal and natal type cam for the Wiimote in the future.

You obviously didn't read my last post.
I don't think NATAL would use a Wiimote type controller because "the controller is you", on the second part of your statement, I sure hope so, it would bring more to the table for Wii gamers.

I don't mean natal will anytime soon but I do see the next gen having waggle control (which I love on my Wii) as standard and it'll be integrated with natal.
You obviously didn't read my last post.
What I put agrees with you but offers an explanation IMO why they will always be lumped together
To say natal is the next step directly from Wiimote is not accurate but as for the tech, and just the tech inside natal is more advanced.
I was saying how people will think it is the same or similar tech inside due to them both having "motion" and "control" used to describe them.
