That's possible, but would Konami really create an entirely new 3D engine from scratch when they still have the MGS4 engine? It seems like Kojima pretty much said that they had stopped doing that with his "emulating American development" comment.

No, he's not going to make a new engine for those two games. I SERIOUSLY doubt it, since MGSR is releasing next year if I recall correctly.
