Forums - Sony - Kojima not directing Rising, only Peace Walker

i see a 6.5/10 in Rising, the only sales will be from mgs4 ultra fans (still a lot of people)

I dont think the game will even make it to half of what mgs4 sold, even with both consoles combined.

hopefully it will cause something like this to never happen again. It is completely blatant, and should be to all of you that there was some huge amounts of money thrown around for this title on 360, and it has become very clear that kojima really wants nothing to do with Rising, but is getting paid a big wad from konami to pretend hes all for it (which he isn't doing a good job of).

Microsoft pays a huge sum to konami, konami pays a huge sum to kojima, and all 3 of them end up making big in profits. So in other words, if this game doesn't sell very well, it is going to crush both companies.

Well, Peace Walker will be the only common Metal Gear game in existance that I don't have - I am not buying a PSP for one game. Yes, I know there are more than that, but I barely have time to play my DS, and when I do its for short sessions. What happens if I have to stop, but I just reached a 30 minute cut scene?

As for Rising, it'll be different, but it'll be good. Plus if the cut scenes are toned down and a tad less convoluted, that wouldn't be a bad thing.

Maybe it'll be coherent.
Now if they could fire the guys that write the script.

I'm playing the original MGS on my wii and my god he wants to be a hollywood director.
The script...

Which is one of the reasons I anticipate it more than Rising. It's the true inheritor of Snake Eater's endless glory.

Plus Big Boss is so much better then Raiden.

Agreed but Ninja Raiden is still badass.

sounds like a positive thing imo.

Naturally MS paid money and that is the ONLY reason Rising is on 360 - it has nothing to do with the fact that 360 has a larger userbase.  Plus, Kojima's recent relationship with MGS has been stormy to begin with.  He was not originally going to have anything to do with MGS4, he complained about MGS 3.  Frankly, if someone else wants to take the reigns, great!  I tire of MGS anyway, now maybe he'll do something else - like SNATCHER.

Also, since PW is on PSP, that makes a Wiimake very possible.  And, before you say, "Kojima hearts Sony", well he practically begged for Snake to be in SSBB.  Also, we know that he and Shiggy share a great deal of mutual respect.

Oh and, Rising will sell very well, but - even if it didn't MS won't be crushed.

I find it amazing that - since Rising is on 360 - it must be bad.  Fanboys are amazing!  Good god, I don't own a 360 (only PS3), and I am happy that it is on 360.  More sales, more opportunity.

Haha, that wouldn't be Metal Gear, nightsurge. And yes, it's Kojima that makes them good.

No it's not.  He doesn't do ALL the story writing, all the code, all the artistic work.  The director merely guides it and watches over things.  Without him this game will still look great, play great, and have a great story.

All I see are benefits from not having him as director so now they can focus on gameplay and storytelling without relying so much on cutscenes.

I'm all for a great story in a tactical type game, but those types of games are not made for 30 minute cutscenes.  Those belong in RPGs.

I also hope the cutscenes aren't long. It would totally suck if my PSP battery died while I was watching a hour cinematic. I would have to watch it all over again. I hope the cutscenes are like Portable Ops - short and stylish.

I cannot wait for Metal Gear Rising. I would love to see another vantage point of the MGS series. That is what Kojima doesn't seem to realize. MGS can live on if he focuses on another vantage point of the story. It don't care if Kojima will be apart of the new MGS game on PSP. Raiden is f'n awesome. You PS3 fanboys are so desperate to shoot down Metal Gear Rising, but fail to realise that playing as Raiden will give you a lot more to do than just playing as Snake in a slick and stylish form and fashion. Kojima may not be involved in the MGS: Rising storyline, but it doesn't mean he wont oversee it. He wont let this game be any less than an 8/10 and you know it.

I'm pretty sure that the scripts are written by Kojima himself, with the help of a few other people.

Nice damage control OP, although I don't know why. It's still coming to ps3 (and PC) after all.
