If I have a American PS3, will a Japanease Blue-Ray Disc Work on it. Or vise-versa.

i know games are region free, not sure about movies.

No. Movies are region encoded just like DVD's.



BD Movies are region locked. BD Games are not.  PS2/PS1 Games are region Lockec.  DVDs are Region Locked.



But I read on wiki:


The Blu-ray Disc movie region codes are different from the DVD region codes. The following are the region codes for Blu-ray discs:


Regions for Blu-ray standard
Region code Area
A North America, Central America, South America, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Hong Kong and Southeast Asia.
B Europe, Greenland, French territories, Middle East, Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
C India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Mainland China, Pakistan, Russia, Central and South Asia.


Edit: So this means a Japanese BD movie will work on a American PS3
