Forums - Sony - Final Fantasy XIV Failure Inevitable?

I was sad to see this. I really don't like MMOs much.

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

It should not be called XIV.
It should be called Online 2.

Yeah, FF XI part 2

Save 14 for something else.

But it's not Final Fantasy XI-2. It takes place in a different world. It has NOTHING to do with Vana'diel.

Cry more?

The problem here is that not every FF fan is a MMORPG fan and not every MMORPG fan is a FF fan.

If its going to be a FF game it should at least be what all FF fans are going to enjoy and not something only a few from the fanbase will.

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!!!

If your a true FF fan you will play the MMO! Wuahaha!

FFXI failed on the PS2 because PS2's online capabilities were rudimentary at best.

Actually, I read somewhere around here that Mithra, Elvaan, and Galka were confirmed for the game.  If they're in the game I would have to assume they brought the Taru Taru's again.

Well I for one will be buying a second PS3 for this game.

My wife and I were FFXI addicts for the first ~4 years of release. I quit eventually so that I could finish college without the distraction of continued participation in a MMO endgame. Since then, my wife has continued to play MMORPGs... mostly FFXI and WoW but she has tried them all. I tried Age of Conan and Warhammer for a short time. But nothing had the kind of "magic" that FFXI had... that intangible thing that made me log on every free minute I had in a day and stay up way past a reasonable bedtime.

Now that SE has announced another MMO and we have to opportunity to play together again right from day one in a FF world we are really excited. One of the biggest complaints I had when I played before was sore back from countless hours hunched over a comp desk. Now with big-screen LCD's, and USB support on the PS3 I think I'm gonna be playing this next one from the couch. I think the message pad for the PS3 controller would be a pretty cool thing to have this time around too.

Before anyone laughs at buying another PS3... consider we logged over 380 days of playtime on FFXI. If I can get another PS3 for
