True they copied it. Nintendo shows you using WiiMotion+ to throw Frisbees and shoot a target. Sony had you battling a horde of skeletons with a sword, shurikens, and a bow (that had more maneuverability than the one in sports resort). They allowed you to use two at a time to wield a shield.
Certainly all of these things are possible with both WiiMotion+ and Sony's new wand, but their presentations at E3 can give you a pretty good idea of what they intend to do with their controllers. I know RedSteel shows sword combat on the Wii and looks good, but I would expect more first party support for action games on Sony's controller.
I think Sony's controller has a good chance to be put to better use.
By the way I'm more of a Nintendo fan than a Sony fan.
