Forums - Microsoft - Natal is microsoft Next-Gen?

It's pretty near the time to see new consoles, and Natal is rumoered to cost 200 dollars in realese, prette realistic estimation(motion capturing with a camera with this level should be expensive). If  released in 2010 like it looks it will be with price of console it would be pretty realistic to be Ms new console. And if they are realesing it this time in the gen wouldn't be any effective and saving for next box would be a better move. If ms announces something like " there is no next box, Natal is already our next-gen" would be just awesome to me.

LoL you mean Sony eyetoy 2.0

PC/wii/Ps3 owner~!

There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

I suck at Lair because I can't move my hands...

And the eyetoy is  gameboy camera 2.0? 2D motion detection isn't anything new. However, Natal works in the dark because it actually scans 3D space, it's not just a camera.

Good news Everyone!

totally clueless, look at the post above

Ms will lose money on hardware if it cost 200 to make this camer. I expect sub 149 price on this thing.

What would be nice, think, instead of buying a totaly new hardware for 500 dollars i just upgrade my current gen console with this camera. And we all know consoles are just getting every gen more expensive to us and to developers, doing this movie we would just stop this and realese a new console just when the hardware would be cheap enough.

I think this will be the longest gen ever, ms is upgrading their console with Natal, nintendo is realesing Wii motion plus and sony are rumoered to enter in the real 3d gaming, this will be something like 2 different moments in the same gen.

Yes and the "tony hawk ride" board is not like the balance board, and xbox avatars are nothing like the mii's, point in case ms copys gimmicks from other competitors and expands on them.  hmmm

Tony Hawk ride is a cross platform game which Microsoft did not develop. Avatars is pretty much an improved copy of Miis, but that is how the industry works. Do you think Wii fit is anything new? It's pretty much Yourself Fitness with a board. Don't fool yourself, Nintendo brings previously innovated devices to the mass audience. They are far from new, they are just new to most people.

I don't know about you, but I would feel pretty bad if I paid $250 dollars for a system that costs less than $100 dollars to make. I've helped design devices at work which are more powerful than the Wii for less than half the cost.

The Natal should be released in a state so that you do not have to purchase another one when NextBox comes out. Then when the NextBox comes out you offer a SKU with and a SKU without the Natal included. If you already have one you have a controller to get started with.

It may be pricey but do realize that it is a controller for more than 1 person.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.
