Forums - Microsoft - What game did Microsoft 'break the bank' on?

I kept reading all this stuff from Microsoft hyping up E3, saying they would break the bank this year.   But i cant really see anything that seems like it would cost a lot?

The only big announcement was Metal Gear coming to the 360.  But surely FF13 is a much bigger announcement that would have cost a lot more.  I would expect if they were going to break the bank this year then their announcement would have somehow been bigger than FF13?

I know theres still some unnannounced games but from what i gather theyre 1st party like Rare.

So what exactly do you think Microsoft was referring to when they said break the bank

The "break the bank" quote has been constantly taken out of context for months. When it was originally said, Microsoft was referring to speaking about games that were not to come out this year as opposed to their typical routine of exclusively announcing and showing off games coming within the next 6 months.

Microsoft "broke the bank" with Halo Reach, Metal Gear Solid: Rising, Alan Wake, Natal, and most likely Crackdown 2.

They put some money into getting the MGS series for PC/360. Same with getting the "exclusive" Splinter Cell, and the rest of the money they funded their first party games (Halo, Crackdown 2, etc.)

It's just that simple.

I imagine a whole went into R&D for Natal.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Must you Really troll"?!!?!?

did you not see how many celebs were there?

I would imagine they would have had to give Kojima an offer he could not refuse to get MGS:R on the 360, even if it is going to be on the PS3 also (more than likely)...

I still think that MGS5 (if there is one) will be exclusive to the PS3!
