wouldn't waving a remote around be a more "gimped" version of motion control than full body control?

Not if the full body lacks any pointing ability, needed for such things as FPS's

LOL.  Why is there a need for FPS games with motion control?  The ones for Wii don't seem to be very popular.  Thus, people with motion control don't really care for them.

At $200, only those who care about FPS'swill ever buy NATAL if it comes out

Explain that logic please.

Also, please stop quoting $200.  Perhaps I could pull a number out of my ass as well and post it online.

Average joe sixpack isn't going to pay $200 for a game camera addon to a console which costs around $200

Also I take those sources over you

Jesus!!  Until you have solid evidence that it actually will cost $200, stop saying that it will.  Do you get that?

Your treating speculation like its fact and its getting so very annoying.

Slimebaest, the reason NATAL gets bashed is a few reasons, first its overpriced for the market, the camera will be over $100 easy, probably $200 according to some sources, then the fact that its limited, since it lacks the pointing capabilities of the Wiimote it won't be usuable in most games, in fact the on screen demonstrations showed more flailing than the Wii. Then its 3 years too late, the conference was littered withthe same themes that Nintendo has been saying since it announced the Wii but suddenly MS acts like its the first to think of it, after bashing the Wii for 3 years. Finally is the MS fanboys who weeks ago were bashing the Wii, but now that they have a gimped version of motion control, its suddenly the greatest thing ever, so you know that the Wii fans have to give them a dose of perspective.

that's not motion control, it's having a pointer.  If all we're talking about is the motion control I can't see how Natal isn't better than the Wiimote on a technical standing.  And you don't even know the capabilities yet, could be possible to point your finger at the screen.  We'll just have to wait and see, but I find it hard to believe that it'll end up being more "gimped" then what is currently out there.

Ah, but just motion controls alone, don't work well in most genres, the pointer ability is needed, and NATAL showed no evidence of having that.  As for motion, well even there, the version shown today was laggy, don't know if that is just because it is prototype or not, but there was a distinct time difference between the actions of the performers, and the on screen avatars.

They had a demo booth hooked up with the camera and Burnout. You could steer with your hands, and step on the gas / brake with your feet. That implies it may work well.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

Oh, and more fun. Have a good time holding your arms out and steering a car, holding nothing. Better keep those arms in the same spot, 'cause if you go and lower them it's going to register in the game.

That's gonna feel GREAT.

Both your posts are completly hypocritical and its obvious you're scared (for some reason) about Natal.

"Play without disturbing anyone" - how does moving around on natal differ from the wii mote? not all the games will be jump kicking crazy games like shown.

and if I'm not mistaken you have to hold the mario kart wheel right? how is holding that any different from holding nothing? you can't relax your arms anymore on mario kart wii than you can natal.

M$ knew where they were going.

as I said in another thread, this "Natal" tech will be awesome for Line-dancing games, hell any dancing games.
They won't need a traditional controller for them because of voice commands, like they use in SingStar now too, so tech like this might just swing me and my mates a bit closer to "Jumping In"

Seriously, the opportunities are almost endless for casual and "serious" games alike, especially without being bogged down with a controller and using voice commands - very appealing for those intimidated by a normal controller.

so i would say no contoller = more $$

While it might not be invention, it's certainly innovation.

Proud Sony Rear Admiral

this should be used with a separable controler (like the wiimote) in each hand (with motion recognition 1:1)... it'd be the ultimate in motion contol @ home, without being too equipment heavy (2 controlers and a sensor =)

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

This is why we can't have nice things. Nintendo fanboys, go away. You're just being bitter and you look ridiculous. I'm reserving full judgment about Natal until they show off some titles that really stretch its capabilities and show what it can do. So far, it looks very promising.

What are the VGChartz E3 boy's comments on this. Have they got to play it yet?
