The hype surrounding the development and now the release of this game is pretty impressive, soft drinks, 7-11, midnight launches, entire tv shows dedicated just to Halo 3, like "attack of the show", where they are treating the game's release like the second coming of Christ.
Now, Super Mario Bros 3 had similar hype, even more probably with "The Wizard", a glorified commercial desguised as a hollywood movie. I can't remember if it had as much media attention though, I remember it was mostly my friends and I discussing the game and that it was a must buy if you had a NES. And if you were a kid in the 80's, you had a NES.
After the hype and the fanboys and the so called "video game journalists" reviews, will the game will live up to the hype? Mario 3 is regarded as the best in the series and one of the best games of all time. How do you think Halo 3 will be viewed in 10-20 years?
