Forums - Nintendo - If Gamecube had a MGS, why not the Wii?

If I can remember correctly. Silicon Knights was a second-party developer at the time with Nintendo. And MGS: Twin Snakes was a co-developed project between both Silicon Knights and Kojima Productions. Plus, it was a confirmed project between Kojima and Mario creator Miyamoto themselves.

Dreamcast was the worst selling. Stop forgetting there were 4 systems then.

I own a Dreamcast and if you wanna know it took part of my life more along de N64 and PSone era than PS2 and Gamecube one.

It was a premature console, but I'm yet to see the sequel for the best "RPG" on 128 bit consoles in my opinion: Shenmue.

That's irrelevant to the fact that it sold 11 million systems, just over half the GC.

And it was not in between the 5th and 6th gen. Any glance at the specs show it's a 6th gen system.

It was to premature for the 6th gen.. reason for its failure

Timing doesn't change the fact that it was still a 6th gen system. The Saturn was the 5th gen.

Because Sony bought exclusivity of MGS4.

Maybe future MGS or MG games would appear on other platforms, but right now I'm guessing Sony's got rights to the next few.

(Regardless of what Kojima thinks, Konami green lights, publishes, markets and distributes his games. They control him, he doesn't control them. So only Sony is preventing these games from being released else where and good on them for doing that, they're creating a competitive advantage for themselves).

you do realize that Kojima is now a Konami executive so he has more say than you think. I don't think it's best to stay ps3 exclusive but it's really up to him.

that was Kojima testing the market. MGS was on the Xbox too. They failed in sales in Kojima's eyes so MGS is a Sony franchise.

Huh. I had heard that he, personally, was very much opposed to the project, since it was outsourced to Silicon Knights, and he felt it bastardized the vision of the original, or something. He didn't want Twin Snakes at all

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I didnt know Twin Snake was a Players Choice....
Didnt Players Choice have to sell at least 1 million? If so there was obviously an audience for MGS on a Nintendo system.
I sure as hell want one. I just beat MGS3 and I still love it more than MGS4 so Id be more than happy with an on-par or superior one on Wii.

However if it didnt sell the only reason Kojima made one is because Miyamoto asked for one on the Gamecube over dinner. Kojima looks up to Miyamoto so he quickly agreed without a second thought.

Thats just wrong,.....

Twin Snakes was on the Cube because Kojima wanted Snake on Smash Bros.
It's obvious. The man thought ahead. Now he has exposed his character to millions more.
