Forums - Sales - Your top 10 biggest sales suprises, and bombs of 2007

All three of the big PS3 games that were released during the last few weeks started of with around 70k, and the two of them that have had full weeks after that dropped immediately, and definitely aren't hitting 500k in the US.

Of course we still don't know for certain how much HS is dropping by (I expect by similar amounts), or how well WH is selling online (probably less than the disc version), but a vast majority of our Sony fans were expecting all of those games to debut with at least twice the sales that they did.

I consider Lair to be the only complete flop amongst them, but the other two are doing worse than I expected as well. Definitely calling them failures, and I'm getting at least Warhawk eventually, assuming the servers are still up by the time I get a PS3.

Around the Network

1) Lair bombing. To me, it seemed like a great idea. And it visually looked great. I guess you can't judge a game by its screen shots!
2) Hour of Victory bombing... I didn't know a big budget game could be so bad. I didn't think it would be great. But, it was downright awful and deserves the dumb ass gameplay award.
3) Metroid Prime 3... Not having the legs that was expected. Droping off way faster then BioShock even though Wii owners bragged about how it would destroy BioShock.
4) Crackdown. Great game even if they had to bundle Halo 3 beta to sell it. Reviews and awards showed proved Realtime did a great job.
5) Shadowrun bombing. Great idea. But, too many people wanted the former Shadowrun franchise and the Windows Live / XBox Live integration stunk.
6) Blue Dragon. It sure dropped off after the first week in NA. Good solid JRPG. Too bad not everyone sees it as one.
7) Two Worlds. How can a game reviewed so badly sell so well?
8) DiRT. Codemasters came out with a gem and it sold solid on 360.
9) Lost Planet doing so well. I didn't think it was that great.
10) Guitar Hero II being so strong. It's great, I just didn't think so many would like it.
