Forums - Sony - Sony, please, stop to realese new psp-models every 8 months.

The PSP has been out since 2004 (in Japan at least) and they've only had 3 hardware revisions......calm down

It's the first Sony portable console and the best selling 2nd classified ever, despite the strange strategy Sony is trying to figure out right as it does it, up until now it fared quite well, better than PS3 in fact. Should PSP Go be its latest incarnation and swansong, it could be considered a decent success anyway. And I can admit this despite hating portables in general and considering PSP controls the most horrible for my tastes (with fast games they give me cramps after a few minutes).

I would agree, but the PSP-3000 is still going to be a major product for Sony, as it is keeping UMD alive.

PSP Go isn't going to replace the PSP-3000. In my opinion, it's a test by Sony to see how viable a handheld console is that relies on downloads for content, while also trying to appeal to those who think the PSP is too big (length and width, not depth).

I don't know if anyone realized this yet, but the PSP Go has a smaller screen than the regular PSP. 3.8" vs 4.3". Pretty substantial difference.

psp go is not a replacement just another offer....a more premium one,one that offers the customers to go full digital and dont have to carry with them all umds..............

psp 3000 and umds will continue to exist and to be offered probably with a lower price.............

the thing is that sony also prepares the field for psp2,since psp2 wont support umd you will still be able to play your psp games through digital download.............

Sony might be hurting themselves, because the consumer doesn't know if they should buy now or wait till a new model comes out. Imagine what all the people who just bought a PSP-3000 will think when this gets announced.

All this to prevent CS.

As for me, I'm happy with my PSP-2000.

Sony has really done a number with the PSP. It's the worst case of the Sega Syndrome since the Saturn. Too many consoles, too fast. I still have an original fatty. I may get a 3000 now that it appears to be the best version of the PSP that will release. They should have scrapped the "Go," made PSP2 with the second analog stick where it is supposed to be, and put the select and start buttons in the empty space where they belong.

About the people talking about companies and caring about people... Companies do not care about the customer. All companies care about are sales and profit, that's it. They tell you they care about the customer so you will continue to give them sales and profit. If a company truely cared about it's customers, it would sell their product for only the price it cost to produce it. There would be no profit.

I have moved and do not have the internet at home, yet.

Another thing. Nintendo and Sony are quite cosy being only two to share portable market. By stealing in turn the spotlight with new announcements, they make more difficult to MS and Apple to find the right moment for the possible launch of, let's call them, XBP and iGame.

WEEE PSP GO tis true sadly no UMD :(.

BAD move sony. but its awesome. 16gb bluetooth, slimmer.
phone integration.

I was pretty pissed when they announced the PSP-3000, a few months the 2000's release (I bought the slim on launch day). And now they announced another one, and it's coming out about a year after the 3000's release. At least they're giving us a choice this time, but it is becoming frustrating that they are releasing a new model every year.

The are keeping the 3000 model in the market though. You can still play with your UMD, while i download from my Go.
