They are much better.. but they shouldn't fool the customers by putting no gameplay in there, and only fmv
The MLB: The Show commercial was pretty badass when I first saw it. David Wright is a stud though which made the commercial better for me.
I think the Sony ads are better than their previous efforts, but they still don't send a strong message about the console. If you cut out the last 5 seconds of the commercials, nobody would even know it was for the PS3 or Sony for that matter.

I love the play b3yond commercials with the guy who narrates. This is one of my favorites:

That's pretty funny. In the video, they use Warhawk as an example, talking about how there can be entire fleets of enemies all with their own AI. In the end, Warhawk doesn't even use bots.
I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.
Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.
Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!
Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.
Yes, I loved those Play Beyond ads...even if they did exaggerate the PS3's abilities, it definitely made it look good.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release. (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
The only thing I like about the Play Beyond ads is that they tend to show in-game clips lasting longer than 0.5 seconds. The narrator voice is such obvious BS, I almost wonder if they did it that way satirically.
The HS and Lair trailers show a grand total of 2 seconds of gameplay, all from the Lair one. Lame.
I'm sorry, but I've always disliked ads like this, and I think it's really emblematic of Sony's strategy: Tempt gamers with eye candy and BS techno-babble instead of showing them games that are fun to play.
I don't like these ones much either. They only make sense to people who already know what the games are about, and the HS one completely lacks any gameplay.
Sony needs to show people playing the games, rather than put the PS3 in an empty white room and have it's controller do magical indeterminable things. Casual purchasers need to see how it works.
Also, is that Cell thing a joke? Because you don't even have to have taken 2 semesters of computer technology to know that the things they are claiming about the cell (and about regular processors) are absolutely false...
I miss PS2 era commercials.

Um...
Also, I laugh with all their Cell blabbering... and why the f*ck they imply that the Cell is smarter than THEIR CUSTOMERS?!
I think the commercials at this point just need to remind people that the PS3 is still alive.
