Forums - Gaming - My contest: Best FPS ever.

Half Life 2, hands down, no contest.

KZ2 is a good game and looks great, but after extensive playtime, even compared to COD4, or the multi-player of Halo 3, or L4D it comes in last in my book.

Crysis.......just barely got my new rig with dual Nvidia 9800 GT's so I will pick it up and see if I can even run it on high settings......(crosses fingers)......and let ya know.

GoldenEye is the only fps game I have ever really enjoyed. I thought Duke Nukem was alright and the original Turok was okay. Every fps released since the N64 bores me.

Duke Nukem 3D - Great interactivity, personality, groundbreaking for it's time. The most FUN I've ever had with an FPS.

Hail to the King Baby!

Duke Nukem 3D was probably the least technologically advanced FPS that was successful.  At the time it came out, almost everything about its tech had been done before by Dark Forces and others.  It competed against Quake and Descent for crying out loud.  It did have a lot of fun with the tech it had, but it was  far from a groundbreaking game.  In my mind, the best FPS ever is the first Half Life.  The game that perfected the genre, and was so memorable, I can still recall the scripted events today.  From the intro up to the point where you teleported to Xen, that game was pure genius.

Adventure fps: Half life 2
Multiplayer fps: Halo 3/ Halo (pc)
WWII fps: CoD

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... Just beat 2 more FPS games today. Halo 2 and Halo 3.

Halo 2 defintely DOES NOT deserve a 95/100 on metacritic. Way too many bugs, and it was just not as good as the first. I did enjoy playing as the arbitor though.

Halo 3 was constant fun, not as good as KZ2, but it is now my favorite in the series. Too bad the ending was just as bad as the other halo games.

Can't wait to play Halo Wars though.

Resistance FoM is my best FPS game bringing in the best 2player co-op campaign. Wish more FPS games can follow in that footstep.
