I think SE decided it after seeing a positive response to FXIII demo sales. maybe they feel PS3 can sell good software on the Final Fantasy brand in Japan easily so why not launch something which is easy to port and get them a constant stream of revenue while they complete FFXIII and FFVXIIIÂ |
But FFXI has been out on the PS2, Xbox 360, and PC for years now. I'm sure that their hardcore audience stopped edit: didn't stop playing the game on their PS2's, and I think if there were any Japanese gamers who wanted to play, they've had so many years and options to do so. I don't think that they'll captre the American audience either, due to the dominance of WoW and the fact that this game was already released and American players who were interested tried the game years ago anyway.
