Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo E3 predictions from normal people (Yeah, YOU)

So, what you think they will show? Will it be great? Will it suck?

Go ahead and tell what the hell you REALLY think Nintendo will unveil to us next june 2

Below we have my humble predictions, which even being humble will turn out to be totally true, just to give the thread a start

- New Wii Colors.

That´s for sure. Cmon, 2 years, sales declining? Its a given.

- New Wii Colors and Motion Plus out of the box.

You know they will. They want everybody to a WM+. They can even call the whole new SKU a new name, like "REAL Wii with Colors!"

- Blah blah blah numbers

That´s the part when you start thinking "maybe it wasnt such a good idea to skip a day at work for this"

- New not cool game for the Balance Board

They will say its the new black. You will know it isnt.

- Clip showing hardcore offerings

A short-but-longer-than-nintendo-summit video showing the survivors from nintendo summit: Sin and Punishment2, Dynamic Slash got a new name and dosent seem so cool (its not 1-on-1), something else and oh, cosmic walker is a no show. Got canned. Like Project Hammer. Sorry.

- New Wii Sports Resort Sports 3 new.

Beach Volley looks great. Beach soccer looks gimmick. The other one is as stupid as curling, but i cant think at something as stupid as curling in a resort. (oh wait, something as stupid as curling would be Disc catcher. But that one we already knew! Im telling about a new sport stupid as curling in a resort)

- BIG NEW HARDCORE GAME

Its just pikmin 3. Have some new stuff, but still just pikmin, plays much like Pikmin 1 and 2

Results: Disappointed? For me, if they promise to support Wii Motion Plus with full power (like out of the box in every new Wii), we got a winner. |The promise and more footage of new core games that we already had a little taste, like Sin and Punishment and the survivors of Nintendo Summit 08 is nice step too.

Overall, i expect nothing like the fiasco from E3 08, but nothing too huge. I think after E3 third parties will jump on the Wii Motion PLus train, and then we will have  something really cool on the Wii.

PS: why no DS predictions? I dont care about new DS stuff! My girlfriend just bought a DS and im playing like there´s no tomorrow. There´s too much good games for it! The DS dosent need more games!

Unfortunately, this is what I think will really happen:

First five minutes: Say things like: "You want games. Will that need be fulfilled by old classics refreshed? Or new IP that surprises? We have both of these things in store for you today."

Next ten minutes: Show off third-party games we already know about.

Next fifty minutes: Wii Sports Resort demo, showing the same games as last year, played by people who are even worse than last year.

Last minute: Announce sequels to various casual games, then claim the hardcore will just love them.

I predict they'll talk about the DS and the Wii.

Normal people on the internet? Where are you gonig to find those?

On topic:

- new wii colors

- fully playable water resort + demonstration

- one playable level of Red Steel 2 or demonstration

- a playable pikmin 3

- DSi stuff

- one or two unknown Nintendo IP. Zelda wii is likely with the launch of motion plus. Maybe Kid Icarus

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

They're focus has obviously shifted away from casual gaming, as it is a market they completely dominate. They seem to be trying to bridge core and casual titles together, a la Punch Out!! and Super Mario Galaxy. Thus, I wouldn't be surprised to see announcements of Pikmin 3 and another big game (StarFox, Kid Icarus) as well as a video of a new Mario or Zelda game. I think they are going to give a lot of space for third parties to demonstrate their uses of WM+ and will show the rest of the games from WSR.

My Games of 2011:

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Super Mario 3D Land

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception

To demonstrate their renewed commitment to hardcore gamers, Nintendo's press conference will open with Cammie Dunaway reading a "Happy Motherf**kers' Day" card.

If I'm right, Nintendo screwed up E3 last year because they overestimated Sony and Microsoft. Nintendo actually thought they would be at risk of getting pushed off their expanded throne.
Now, Nintendo nows it's too late for Sony and Microsoft to threaten them by coming with their own motion controllers, and they will start trying to conquer the uphill, basically they'll want to win over people who now prefer Sony or Microsoft consoles.
Expect heavy emphasis on high budget core third party games, and some big Nintendo announcements such as Pikmin 3 and a new Zelda, and maybe a black Wii with some added stuff(like WSR with a WM+ instead of Wiisports).

If I'm wrong, Nintendo will focus more on the expanded audience, but there will still be plenty of core games.

For DS, it's easy. Expect Pokémon and some stuff about how great DSi is and how much greater it'll be.

New games from Retro, Factor 5, and possibly HAL Labs. More details on Wii Sports Resort, Spirit Tracks, and Sin & Punishment 2. Pikmin 3 being a given, but then something unexpected too, in all probability.
