So if it's more than 150K and less than 200K then my prediction was spot on. So, inFamous is doing according to my expectations

Yeah, mine was 160 without Japan 180 with Japan... I wonder when it launches in Japan.

Hmm, ioi said over 150k and under 200k.

Now I just can't grasp why titles like this (or others) do this badly... okay, other titles have received abysmal marketing so that's something that can be pointed towards for the failure... but this game apparently got decent marketing so should do relatively well.

Yet, it won't even reach 200k. It's weird how Nintendo and MS can (i'm just exaggerating here) just fart in a glass and sell 4 million copies of it pretty much instantly :-/ Okay, install base and marketing but if this game has had decent marketing.... then why?

I think it's all in the games that are hyped...  This game has received a ton of marketing and gimmicks to help it (Uncharted Beta anyone?), but when you say "hey, screw that game I haven't heard of... this inFamous one is getting a ton of coverage!!" Then, they get it, and it's good but not great...  It's like "is this the best there is?"

InFamous doesn't suck, but it wasn't the "system seller" it was getting hyped as any more than a number of others was.

Believing in the PLAYSTATION®3......IS.......S_A_C_R_I_L_E_G_E

The Steve you are delusional if you thought infamous was hyped.

There were threads asking where the hype was. There were people asking "why such low predictions"and the responses were "its not hyped"

who was calling it a system seller??

I'm not martin luther king. I don't have a dream. I have a plan

Sell a man a fish you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish you just ruined a perfect business opportunity.

We didn't emerge out of the stone age because we ran out of stones. Its time to be proactive not reactive.

Because it's easier to make sequels than new IP's. I think that explains Infamous's sales to a decent extent as compared to Gears 2, Halo 3, etc. Like Uncharted, some manage to get word of mouth due to their excellence. And as for you saying that MS can just do anything and sell, I think that "Madworld" commercial was very effective in getting peoples attention lol.

i hate this argument, compare its sales to gears 1.

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

You did see Gears ad campaign right? The only other game that rivals it is Halo 3. You also know Gears released on a holiday period with infamous releasing in the slowest period for the year.

^^^

no prob an dim not trying to hate, i prolly will buy infamous sooner or later

BUT

weak sales are weak sales, and sony has a theme of them this gen with a few exceptions. theres a million caveats sure, but its a good thing i dont use sales numbers to decide on game purchases

Not bashing the game, but talking to dozens of folks in person and online I'd not entirely intentionally tlked them out of getting the game, simply because it's so underwhelming. It's just another super-hero game, slightly better than some of the movie tie-in ones, not as good as some of the better ones.

Well, I reviewed this game as well, (dual review in fact, with someone going for good while I went for evil) and this game is a blast to play according to us. It's indeed repetitive but - aside from a few people - no one cares about that in this game. It's not a game you play again and again, but it's an adrenaline rush from start to finish. Yes, they could improve the variety and improve the lousy shadows and some of the glitches. But all in all, this is NOT "just another super-hero game". If you want to compare it to that crop, it's among the best of the best.

INdeed, that was an awesome commercial and I applaud them for it, but you could basically have three identical products for each console (heck, the game could even be better on PS3) and ninty and ms would still only need to whistle to get it to sell while sony could invent the best ad campaign and still not sell half of the competition separately...

Every single game is repetitive. I can't think of one that isn't.

I would agree with you if you said the game was hyped, but who said it was a system seller? You're pretty much trolling at this point. And the game is getting great ratings anyways, so I'm not worried. Not everything has to be 90% or up to be good.
