Forums - Sales - Will The Conduit atomize Halo 3's opening record?

I hope this game doesnt sell much to be honest FPS are getting so long in the tooth now it's quite boring

"...the best way to prepare [to be a programmer] is to write programs, and to study great programs that other people have written. In my case, I went to the garbage cans at the Computer Science Center and fished out listings of their operating system." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)

"Hey, Steve, just because you broke into Xerox's house before I did and took the TV doesn't mean I can't go in later and take the stereo." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)

Bill Gates had Mac prototypes to work from, and he was known to be obsessed with trying to make Windows as good as SAND (Steve's Amazing New Device), as a Microsoft exec named it. It was the Mac that Microsoft took for its blueprint on how to make a GUI.

""Windows [n.] - A thirty-two bit extension and GUI shell to a sixteen bit patch to an eight bit operating system originally coded for a four bit microprocessor and sold by a two-bit company that can't stand one bit of competition.""

It will be miracle if it can sell that many lifetime.

Even assuming it was that popular, initial shipments won't be anywhere near high enough.

I think Conduit will be lucky to reach half of what Halo 3 managed in week one in it's Lifetime sales.

Hell no. Don't you remember how much hype Halo 3 had?

Hype has got nothing to do with this. An example would be Grand Theft Auto IV. It outdid Halo 3's opening record without hype.

LMFAO!!! GTAVI had no hype?! Are you kidding me?

Just because there wasn't a beverage made after it doesn't mean a game isn't hyped to unholy hell. Otherwise it would have sold less than 1 mil it's opening week. GTA is a part of Pop Culture now and even SouthPark helped to hype GTA Chinatown Wars.

Sorry for the lack of me even trying to understand what you just said.

I didn't notice the great hype of Grand Theft Auto IV. In my opinion, it wasn't that hyped. I think most people purchased it just because it was critically acclaimed.

Opening week are largely determined by stock in stores (and demand). The amount of stock in stores, especially for a publisher like Sega (Microsoft can break the rules), is largely based on preorders. Preorders would have to be massive for them to produce enough copies in time that they could get in the hands of the consumer the first week.

It should open better than COD:WAW for the wii, and if the game is really good (agreed by both casual FPS and hardcore FPS fans, 90+ metacritic), then it might outsell Halo 3 lifetime just because there are more Wii systems than 360 and could potentially become a system seller. I can see that scenario happening, but only about 20% likely...

Unless we start hearing about midnight launch parties at stores all across the country/world, no way are preorders high enough for that massive of an opening week. If we do start hearing about launch parties, I will up it from 0% likely to 0.6% likely.

it won't
normally shooter or action games aren't succesfull on the wii. it's more a kids konsole.
sega can be proud if they sell 4 million lifetime of the conduit

No, Halo 3 is a known franchise, where the Conduit is a new IP with a significant amount of hype. It will likely sell similar to COD:WaW on Wii, around a 1.5 mil total.

2007 called, they want their post back.

COD:WaW, RE4 are just 2 examples of games that sold over a mil copies on the Wii.

That said, 4 mil lifetime would be very successful, I can't forsee over 2 mil, but that is still quite successful.

I hate who says Wii is for kids, not just because you dont'have an iperextramega graphic system it's not a console! There are many ames for teens and many others for all people, we cannot say that Wii is just for kids! On the other hand I hope Conduit will do well, but a new game from a new company and being a new try on Wii to put a good FPS i hope it will sell more than 100k first week, but I hoper it also have good legs and becomes a 2+ M seller; if it did (or also if it will overpasso 1 M) HVS and Nintendo have won.

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)
