Forums - Gaming - 7 Gaming Systems that Were Epic Failures

I love my Game Gear. It has amazing games and I liked its design much more than the gameboy.

If only SEGA could have dealt with the power issue... it would have done so much better.

The PS3 seems to be missing from this list, the biggest failure of this gaming generation....

If the PS3 is the biggest failure of this generation, then this generation has been very successful.

As Richard correctly states, the false commentary on Fighting Street already condemned this list to failure. That and the inclusion of the TG-16, Game Gear and Neo-Geo, all fine systems that were somewhat successful in their own way. There are tons of less successful systems than those three.

Plus I don't see how an experience with one defective Sega CD machine makes the entire system useless. Sure, there was plenty of FMV crap for the system, but there were also some awesome games like Shining Force CD, Dark Wizard and Popful Mail.

Oh yes, silly me! I thought the PS3 was in last place and 8 million behind the 360 and not selling very well while also losing Sony billions of pounds, I can't think of any other console doing that badly this generation can you?

I would have def put the 3DO in there along with the PS3

Bill Gates had Mac prototypes to work from, and he was known to be obsessed with trying to make Windows as good as SAND (Steve's Amazing New Device), as a Microsoft exec named it. It was the Mac that Microsoft took for its blueprint on how to make a GUI.

I got sega gamegear with Alien bundled for my bday during the 90's but then it broke down when my broher tried to attach somekind of tv tuner into it.

^I think I remember that Sega GameGear TV tuner attachment. Sucks that it didn't work after that. I doubt the attachment is what killed it though.

these are not the worst consoles. i seen worse. and the game gear was awesome back in the day so did Turbo Grafix

I believe the best value in games on the Wii Virtual Console is TurboGrafx games.  They are 600 credits, 100 more than the NES.  And the graphics are a bunch better.  Now, if they would only get Legendary Axe on there.

Yea, for a second I thought they were 800 like SNES/Genesis.   However, you are right for the most part.  There are a few Japanese released only games for 700 though, and there are some 900 points games like Gradius 2 Japanese game.

I never got a Game Gear when it came out.  I ended up too busy with my Atari Lynx.  I just couldn't bring myself to get one later on also.  I do have a portable handheld based on the Master System though.

The import stuff seems to be at least 100 more credits, all the way around, even the Genesis stuff fits into that.
