Forums - Gaming - When (if ever) do you see Insomniac going multi-plat?

No doubt Sony will purchase MediaMolecule since LBP was such a hit and also it would not cost a huge deal simply because the company is not that big. Insomniac would be very expensive to purchase since the company is huge to say the least.

ROBOTECHCHICKEN the problem there is that Sony fund for all their games so that means MS would have to fund them to make a game, sure as hell Sony will not be paying for a 360 version. There is obviously some agreement between Sony and Insomniac and I am sure Sony have made deals to keep Insomniac exclusive. Sony losing money means nothing to Insomniac because there still getting paid.

I could never see Insomniac going multi-platform.

I think they have way too tight of a relationship with Sony.

Loyalty.
I think insomniac will stick with Sony forever.
They're games are successful on one console, I don't see why they need to go multi-platform.

Not for a long while.

you are waaayyyy over exaggerating on insomniacs size. also on the amount it would take to buy them. unfortunately insomniac is privately owned and can only be bought out through them.

Really..............really? They make one new PS3 title every year and you think they are small? Insomniac has two teams with one making the Resistance games and the other R&C. On top of that another studio opened in Insomniac not long ago.

It's a very big studio of that there is no doubt.

^ what do you consider Huge ? take two has 2,000 employees and EA made a 1.5 billion dollar bid. Insomniac has 180 employees. 100million to buy them out max. 1. insomniac has no IP's of their own so Sony wouldnt get any games through it just talent.(apparently they wouldnt even get a building) 2. privatly owned is a lot easier to convince. (if they are willing to sell to begin with) (just for compariso. SE - 3,300 employees. EA - 7,900. Ubisoft - 4,500 these would be huge for me)

I'LL play the devil's advocate, while I believe that Insomniac will stick with sony for the forseeable future, I am also very confident that Sony will not be buying them out anytime soon for the following reason:

1) Sony is in a financial crisis that is forecast to last for at least another 2 years. Why would they add to their burden by buying a company that are very happily independent but work exclusively through them?

2) The founder of Insomniac (which others have stated is a privately owned small bussiness) has stated very firmly in the past that while they enjoy their relationship with Sony, they are and will remain an indepedent company, a hostile takeover will most likely see Sony lose some key talents, and what is a ip-less studio without its talent?

3) Insomniac might not be big but when assessing a company, you not only consider its physical worth but also its profitability, insomniac is a very profitable company and this will reflect in its value.

$$$ wise Insomniac are very different from SE because the latter have to fund for their own games while Insomniac get money from Sony. Profit or not I cannot see Insomniac caring at all because they are getting paid and I'm sure Sony are keeping life sweet for them.

Think about it; with Insomniac Sony get one very good million seller a year, I doubt they will want to share that kind of talent. R&C: ACIT should be another million seller so yeah....could happen but then again seems unlikely looking at the past track record.

There is something called loyalty, and the fact that they work in the same building as other SCE people, and Sony own their IPs, and they are making plenty of money as it is

Well Bingie was in a similar case.....
