You are wrong. About 28 months for Japan, 19 months for the US and 18 months for Europe.

As time went on, the headstarts for different regions matter less. For example the PS3 in Europe outsold the PS3 sales for the US already. Impressive PS3 games are being released in all major markets and provided services are about on par.



Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

He is actually quoting me from that thread and I got it right.  Here is all of what you said.

That thread was at the start of 2009.  You said, "by the end of 2016 about 140 million".  So, from the start of 2009 to the end of 2016 is approx eight years.

140 million - 20 million already sold = 120 million to go

120 million / 8 years = 15 million per year.

It needs to average that for about more 7 more years after this fiscal year to *perfectly* deliver on my expectations, if Sony is spot on like they were for this fiscal year. But I said "about", so give or take a few millions.

About 22.7 million PS3s have been sold by the end of March 2009 (FY 2009). Sony expects about 13 million more to be sold by the end of fiscal year 2010. That would make ~35.7 million.

Assuming Sony is spot on like they were this fiscal year

140 million - 35.7 million = 104.3 millions

April 2010 - the end of 2016 = 6.75 years

104.3 millions / 6.75 years =~ 15.43 millions/year

Give and take 5 millions

99.3 millions / 6.75 years =~ 14.71 millions/year

Give and take 10 millions

94.3 millions / 6.75 years =~ 13.97 millions/year

So what number do you want me to change into in my sig?

I thought you were using shipment data?  Shipments are not listed in exact months.... so how did you factor in their exact releases?  Going by shipment dates it was:

PS1 - 28 months Japan, 16 months NA, 16 months EU

PS3 - 28 months Japan, 28 months NA, 23 months EU

So in other words you were still using nearly a years worth of more data for your PS3 figure than the PS1 figure.

Again, just admit you were wrong in your initial claim.  I have given you more than enough undeniable reasoning to support why you were wrong.

Taking into account all variables which can be used, the reality is that the PS3 is tracking BEHIND the PS1 by 2.1-5.1 million units!

I believe within 2 years PS3 will have overtaken the XBox 360 in console sales. Just you all wait and see. PS3 has more room to drop the console price over the coming years, it has more exclusive games, greater storage capacities with Blu-Ray and a longer future due to Blu-Ray being the long lasting media format.

I am so looking forward to the PS3 total sales overtaking 360 total sales. Many people just like me will be celebrating when PS3 overtakes the 360 and some of us will be saying: "I told you so"

PS3 and  following Sony is a religion to some, just like me.

 

 

Wow i really feel sorry for u, your dream is that ps3 overtakes xbox360, is that your purpose in life see one company fail and the other what?........ what will u win of it, proof that u have no life and that u worship a plastic machine that server no purpose other then entertain.

Turn 8 into 7 years. And specify the launch of a slimline PS3.

Before the launch of a slimline PS3 I stated about 10 million a year. The difference has mainly to do with entry pricing, but also with form factor.

A year or two ago these threads used to have a specified date for something like this to happen. I don't see any in here though.
