technical problem? LOL
It makes the game better!

But yes, you can turn it off in the options if you prefer "blend generic 3d visuals" just like every other game.

The "film noise" gives Mass Effect another layer of AWESOMENESS!

For someone like you, please don't buy the Blu-Ray 300 movie.
You won't understand the artistic design choice of the added noise on the film.
You'll probably end up at the store saying: "I think my Blu-Ray disc is broken, it's all fuzzy" LOL
Funny.

Was this really necessary? And why the hell wouldn't I think this was another technical problem? The game is a technical Nightmare, I understand the visuals done in 300 because lets face it YOU could tell it was done on purpose. However, with Mass Effect's constant pop-ins, slowdowns, excessive loading it becomes kind of hard to tell what is actually done on purpose to give a further UMPH in the atmosphere or what was the result of poor technical work on Bioware's side

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

I was going to tell you to change the "filter" in options, but somebody beat me to it. I prefer the grainy look, too. If you want the sharp picture, then go for it.

Also, Take your time and enjoy yourself while you play this game. Read the files and listen to the profiles and stuff. The game is crammed full of awesomeness, and games like this only come around once in a while. DO NOT RUSH THROUGH THIS GAME.

Actually I've played this game multiple times it's just that this is the first time I've ever played it on a TV bigger than 27 inchs much less one in 1080p HD so I never actually got to notice this type of effect before.

I will say this though Mass Effect is the Best WRPG I've played this gen thats for sure and I can't wait for ME2

lol, this is NOT a problem, its a (very good) design choice made by Bioware.

Mass Effect has a "film grain" filter. Just like in the movie "300".
They added this graphical noise by purpose.

This makes the experience more rich, realistic, just like a real movie.

I love it.

I played a few minutes without the filter (you can choose your filter in the options) and I went back to the film grain filter, it is much better. Stronger atmosphere, difficult to describe, I'm just happy it doesn't look like a typical 3D game with shinny plastic surfaces.

Thanks Bioware, you're the best!

THEY BETTER KEEP THIS FEATURE IN MASS EFFECT 2!!!  Or else, I'm gonna cry in a dark corner... :)

So, short answer:

1- Everything is OK in your living room.
2- Mass Effect is unique.

lol, that's weird, I don't remember having some fuzzy filter on mine.

Go to options/Then graphics then you can turn Filter [On]  Off

That makes the fuzzy go away.

It has a film grain effect like bad company, and left for dead

You may think the theatrical filter is a problem. Somewhere in the video options you can turn it off. It makes it look all fuzzy. I turned it off first thing.

^^^ yay!
