Capcom isn't the only Japanese company that will have a more limited E3 presence than previously expected. Gamesindustry.biz is reporting that both Square Enix and Koei are also scaling back their presence at next month's show due to the swine flu outbreak.
"A limited number of executives/employees from Square Enix's headquarters in Japan will be attending E3 this year, given the recent worldwide spread of H1N1 flu," they said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Koei told Kotaku that they are "reconsidering international travel," saying, "As a result, there will be a limited number of staff from the company's Yokohama-based headquarters attending this year's show."
Koei will, however, have representatives from their Canadian branch on hand to discuss one of their new titles.
For its part, E3 is trying to conduct business as usual. But for a trade show that's trying to revive the "excitement" of previous years, the swine flu outbreak couldn't have come at a worse time.
