Missing catgories.  This gen has seen the rise of "party" games.  Those aren't represented at all on the list.

As for Nintendogs, go reread the OP.  It's obvious you didn't read it closely enough.

In my oppinnion there are some genres missing.

I miss the following:

On-Rail-Shooter
Mini-Game-Collections
Fitness-games

You missed even more than that.

There are indeed a lot of genre missing but adding all of them would be very long... It took me a lot of time to do that list. I haven't include a Sport genre because I think it's way too vast, mostly because of all the different sports that exists.

I agree with Fighting, Platformer and Puzzle.

seperating some subgenres and not others seems rather counter productive

Pokemon should be on it somewhere because it's one of the best rpg concepts ever made. Idc of it's for ds.

I also fail to understand how some people disagree with super smash bros brawl. Soul calibur 4 doesn't come close to being as good.

I agree with half of the things on that list.

Purely because I like my fighters fast, and precise. SSBB has luck involved ( powerups, etc. Also the move set is not that difficult ). I played Soul Calibur 2 loads more than SSBM and Soul Calibur 4 is just the perfect Soul Calibur game. Love the series.

How can you say that when Street Fighter 4 and Soul Calibur 4 are slow as molasses? 

They are painfully slow compared to other technical fighters, especially Street Fighter 4.
