I remember one friend going on and on about how he was getting an xbox because, ironically, he hated jrpgs and japanese-styled video games in general. And yet he couldn't get enough halo despite the fact that the styling of the game has more in common with the power rangers direction than rambo. Even "Master Chief" sounds like a bad translation. It's possible this sort of mentality may be more prevalent in the south. I will admit to personally to the same indulgences when I was younger. Although at the time anti-Japanese sentiment was stronger and I was supporting the American Atari over against Nintendo and Sega. There's also the fact that Microsoft at some point became politically charged and as all political issues in the US has become partially enmeshed in the culture wars. Traditional American worship (and dislike but this is a much smaller segment of the population) of captains of industry is also inevitably at play here thanks to the fortune Gates has amassed. |
OMG! WHAT
