Why would a "hardcore" gamer buy Wii and not have GC before? For WHAT reason???

Maybe for Wii mote? Or maybe for "STRONG" 3rd party support with hardcore games?

If a "hardcore" gamer bought a Wii for SMG, Zelda, SSBB and etc, i DON`T SEE a reason, why he didn`t bought a GC for 99$ for SMS, Zelda, MP1/2 and etc.

There is something to what crazzyman is saying. I can name half a dozen friends who are xbox owners out of vaguely patriotic/anti-japanese. I remember one friend going on and on about how he was getting an xbox because, ironically, he hated jrpgs and japanese-styled video games in general. And yet he couldn't get enough halo despite the fact that the styling of the game has more in common with the power rangers direction than rambo. Even "Master Chief" sounds like a bad translation.

It's possible this sort of mentality may be more prevalent in the south. I will admit to personally to the same indulgences when I was younger. Although at the time anti-Japanese sentiment was stronger and I was supporting the American Atari over against Nintendo and Sega.

There's also the fact that Microsoft at some point became politically charged and as all political issues in the US has become partially enmeshed in the culture wars. Traditional American worship (and dislike but this is a much smaller segment of the population) of captains of industry is also inevitably at play here thanks to the fortune Gates has amassed.

I would say the effect would balance out with the European and Japanese markets supposed bias causing the Xbox 360 to perform poorly or extremely poorly in these markets on an overall worldwide scale against the Xbox 360 even when you consider any potential bias in the United States market.

The wii was also designed to attract those who fell out of gaming one or two generation back. Not just the casual or hardcore fans. You're forgetting a middle group. Most of these people have now families and the wii is clearly suited for those. With the new Nintendo approach they reconnected with Nintendo again. I myself never owned a GC and do now have a wii.
