Sonys top 20 couldn't compare to Nintendos top 3 in system selling potential.

Wii Fit
Wii Sports
Mario Kart Wii

All comers, top 20 they still would come up short. In short theres nothing Sony can do even if we weighed 6 years of PS3 effort to match that.

Quality has never been a indication of how well something will sell just means its a better product. Honda's Sell way better than Ferrari's... but every one wants the Ferrari better car, faster engine, better sound system etc. Just because 360 games out sell PS3 don't mean there better.. look how well X-men is selling that wolverine game...compared to other games it really is bad a cheap hack and slash rip off but its marketed well and uses a popular character to it sells.

Uh... I believe he was referencing the Nintendo games..... where did you get the PS3 vs 360 idea?

yes selling pontential but wat about top quality games that appeal to most

"Sony is coming hard with the exclusives and they're going to continue to push the envelope. We already have MGS4 and Killzone 2, both of which are arguably - note I said "arguably," naysayers - as good or better than anything on either the 360 or Wii"

I was commenting on the system selling part of the article. It seemed like the easiest part to crush.

@ChoppedLiver: A $299 PS3 would probably still beat the 360 after the holidays, its about how the sales are distributed with much emphasis going to America during that time where the 360 is strongest.

@Leonidus: Quality means what exactly? That a lot of people want to fork over money to see something? That a lot of journalists like something? It means whatever the hell you want it to be. Hell if I held the opinion that rumble was the only worthwhile attribute in games then the PS3 had absolutely no quality games before the dualshock 3 came out.

I'll take it a step further for you Squill, of course the Sales 3 would be PS3 sales top 20, but let's look at scores.

Top 10 exclusives from Metacritic.

Wii:

1 Super Mario Galaxy 2007 97
2 Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, The 2006 95
3 World of Goo 2008 94
4 Super Smash Bros. Brawl 2008 93
7 Punch-Out!! 2009 90
9 Metroid Prime 3: Corruption 2007 90
10 Little King's Story 2009 88
11 Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure 2007 87
12 Boom Blox Bash Party 2009 87
13 Bomberman Blast 2008 86

PS3

2 LittleBigPlanet 2008 95
5 Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots 2008 94
10 Killzone 2 2009 91
12 MLB 09: The Show 2009 90
14 Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction 2007 89
17 Uncharted: Drake's Fortune 2007 88
23 Flower 2009 87
26 Valkyria Chronicles 2008 87
27 WipEout HD 2008 87
29 Resistance 2 2008 87

To take it even further... This is still pointless, people like the games they like.  I for one, like really crappy games (reviewed with a lower score) fairly often.  By looking at sales of games this generation (minus the very top sellers on all three consoles) it looks like many people agree with me.  (They also buy lots of lower reviewed stuff)

Edit: before I get trolled, the point of the list is that they are very similarly rated and the argument is pointless, not that either console has a better library.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

So, anyway, KZ2 is just barely a AAA game by score and is a flop by sales (due to budget), InFamous is a "good" game that looks to wrap up with a low 8 score and will likely flounder in sales, what else is coming out this year?

The overhype and ravenous fanboys hurt the system, only because they call down derision from others so readily in their nonsense.

Fat Princess

Maybe GT5, God of War 3, FF Versus,  White Knight Chronicles, Quantim Theory

Thank you.

Uncharted 2 should beat the first one, so that should make low 9s and sell decent.

New Ratchet I can't picture making AAA score or selling all that great, but I could be wrong...  Just seems like any other platformer that hasn't ahd a new idea since the first game.

Mag is anyone's guess...  I would figure it will do fairly, but it's not that hyped anyway.

Is Heavy Rain really coming out this year?  It looks beautiful, and I loved the under rated Indigo Prophecy.  It is likely too niche to do as well as it should.

Fat Princess is a PSN title, right?  Well, it's about time they had something decent on there.  I hear it's good.

Out of the others, GT5 and GoWIII are the only ones I really see breaking the "AAA" score and sales plateau.

I was just realizing that for all the hype and nonsense of this season with "PS3 has all the exclusives/all PS3 exclusives trash all other exclusives" arguments...  The games are decent, but don't live up to the hype for quality (no game would with this type of hype...  they'd all have to be genre defining), sales, or scores.

Let's face it: the console war comes down to exclusive software. Everything else can be categorized as either trivial or gravy; the top-notch, must-have software that can only be played on one particular platform drives hardware sales. When Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots came out, PlayStation 3 sales spiked for two straight months. When Gears of War 2 came out later in the year, Xbox 360 sales left the other two consoles in the dust. It's just the way of the industry.

Therefore, I think Microsoft and Nintendo should probably take note- Sony is coming hard with the exclusives and they're going to continue to push the envelope. We already have MGS4 and Killzone 2, both of which are arguably - note I said "arguably," naysayers - as good or better than anything on either the 360 or Wii. And we've still got Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, MAG, Heavy Rain, Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time and Gran Turismo 5 in the future. These are games that will not only sell PS3s but will very likely eclipse any exclusive offerings on either of the other two consoles. This is merely speculation, of course, and being a big fan of Gears and the Halo franchise (I own every title in each series), I won't say the 360 isn't capable of competing. But just based on what I see now, it seems that PS3 exclusives not only have the edge...they're destined to dominate. And did everyone see Project Trico? I mean...does anything look so promising for the competition?

And the further along we get, the more exclusives should continue to excel. Hence, wouldn't it be safe to assume that the more developers get out of the PS3's superior hardware, the larger the gap between Sony and its competition will become...? We've all been saying for quite some time that if a developer simply buckles down and focuses entirely on the PS3, they'll produce something better than what could be done on the 360. The fanboys wanted to laugh at that, but based on the exclusives we've already seen and the ones that are on the way...is there any denying this fact any longer? Look, I just calls 'em as I sees 'em. Show me evidence to the contrary rather than shrieking "biased!" at the top of your lungs, and maybe I'll give a listen. Otherwise, just shut it and accept the current facts of the situation. ;)

Awesome

360 never outsold Wii when Gear 2 was released. Does he live in the same world as I do?

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

As always, 360 fans always bring sales into the discussion. We know the PS3 and its games get wallpoed sales-wise by the competition, but its the quality games people should be interested in

EDIT: I CBA reading the OP articles, so if its about sales forgive me. If its not about sales forgive yourself.

You said it. It's accually getting quite old lol.

I'm not sure I understand the logic of the initial post - are you saying that exclusive titles hold the key to success, and holding up past PS3 exclusive titles as evidence of this?

Perhaps you should take a look at the hardware picture - if PS3 exclusives were that strong and held the key to high sales, PS3 wouldn't be in the sales crisis it is.

Incidentally, I'm a PS3/Wii/PC owner, and have no interest in purchasing an Xbox360. Further, I own none of the exclusives mentioned here.

Finally, wrt the point about sales 'spiking' following release of MGS4, it should be pointed out that this is a relative position, and that Wii sales were probably still well above PS3 sales with or without any 'big-hitting' exclusive titles...

It's actually getting quite old that everyone says our exclusive games are higher "quality" then your games when quality is a subjective term based on who is playing it and what they like, someone that likes Super Mario Galaxy might not like Metal Gear Solid 4 and therefore the quality titles are on the Wii, and frankly I know you haven't played half the games on Wii/360 and wouldn't even be able to judge what's "quality" on the Wii/360 by your own standards.

Accually, Leonidus is right, someone always has to throw sales into a discussion about games, this goes for any console.

And I accually have played alot of the 360 games, although I don't own a 360, I go to my friends/cousins very often, which have 360's, and Ive played a majority of the top exclusives.

Wii? Doesn't intrest me, none of my friends own one, and i'm not buying one.

And all I said was Leonidus is right about the sales, why are you talking down on me for, lol?
