Forums - Gaming - Stop hyping Mass Effect 2!!!

CaptDS9E said:
Its amazing people have this much time on there hands to argue over who got a game of the year award, what a RPG is, and to complain about overhyping a game, when Killzone had like 30 threads on the subject

Werd!

What now? Call of Duty 4 got a "Game of the Year" Edition as well. Much earlier than Mass Effect at that.

Other places GOTY -

GameSpy - Call of Duty 4
Yahoo! - Super Mario Galaxy (Mass Effect wasn't even a nominee)

You know, I could go on. But this website does it very nicely for you.

http://www.gamecriticsawards.com/2007goty.html

Mass Effect got the 7th most GOTY awards. Super Mario Galaxy, Bioshock, The Orange Box, Call of Duty 4, Rock Band, and Halo 3 all got more awards.

Well...In Fairness The Ny Times and the Elan award are more respectable than those two...But then again...Didn't Halo also get GOTY?

Edit: and all those games you mention aswell

Did you just say that NYT was a reputable source for Game news? What?

And the website I gave compiled the awards given by all major publications (including NYT) and major web companies.

Click on the site, it'll help you understand what I'm saying.

I may play through Mass Effect again. It was a good game.

Hold on a moment. This is done by only members from one site. This is NOT a cumilation of all awards from all website and literature. But more importantly the developers awards.

Excerpt from where your link sends us to, please read the underlined bold sections:

The judges of the Game Critics Awards are honored to announce the first annual Game of the Year awards. Considering games across all platforms, released commercially in North America between January 1, 2007 and December 31, 2007, the judges have voted to decide on the best of the best for the year.

To arrive at the top ten games of 2007, the judges applied a points system. Each judge nominated 10 games and awarded a score between 5 and 30 points to their chosen games, with a total point allotment of exactly 100. The cumulative total for each nominated game was then calculated to generate the ten highest scoring games. More details are available in the rules section.

Yes indeed  say the NY and the Elan are more reputable than Yahoo and Gamespy..I stick firmly by it...As for Game news...No..I'm sticking to 1up and kotaku..But as I was posting I remembered Halo 3 had GOTY and others...So hence the Edit...

I'm Not disagreing with you..I don't need to..I understand perfectly....

All this is doing is reminding me how awsome a year 2007 was for gaming...

Regardless, my point was that Mass Effect is not recognized as the universal GOTY for 2007.
