Hi just a thought i keep seeing threads and posts about how the ps3 will xplode in sales at the $299 pricepoint, that seems logical and all but what happens if after the initial buying frenzy it levels off and just like 360 is now barely outselling the ps3,

 the ps3 is barely outsell the 360 what will some people say?we cannot use the $199 360 vs the more expensive ps3 as the reason anymore as many predict that at the magic $299 price the 360 is all but dead in the water. i for one expect the ps3 to be the winner over the 360 in sales, afterall this is the playstation brand we are talking.

I think it is abundantly clear to all that if a $299 slim PS3 doesn't result in a fundamentally monumental shift in console sales, GT6 and FFXIV exclusive in Japan will.

No way that can happen look at the Weekly sales very close with $200 price difference.

Yeah, surely the question should be how can they be this close when you can get an Xbox for half the price (under) in some regions.... Anyway, the real question is what if the Xbox's price is cut further?

The price isn't as a big of a factor as you guys take it. And the price difference is more like $100 as the pro is the most popular.  The arcade is pretty useless without a HDD. I agree with the OP

Console sales are pretty low in this period of the year. If it were say, the holiday season the gap would be hundreds of thousends. Therefore it's better to look at yearly sales instead of weekly sales.
