Forums - Sony - The Real Deal on the Next PSP (is this site official?)

I am anticipating a new PSP model and it would be disappointing if its not announced at E3. Honestly, I would be able to part with an non UMD system, if the PSP Go! has updated flash support. New PSP model + Updated flash support + access to Sirius XM service = I will put money down on the system.

no UMD drive no sale

I think it's bullshit. For Sony to abandon UMD would be a dumb move.

Prediction (June 12th 2017)

Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.

PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)

PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)

dumb move to abandon umd... no.
It is a slow loading piracy filled lame ass format that needs to leave. It is loud, and is the main reason the PSP has to be as large as it is.

There are ways around it, maybe they wil sell adapters or something to accomodate umd only titles, or past libraries.

how many iterations of the hardware can sony justify if the only change is the screen clarity.
-No more, which is why they have realized a non UMD psp, for all of the reasons listed above... is a smart move.

the question is; will they phase out all production of the 3000 models?
I doubt it.

So long as they still allow me to do several things:

1. Transfer my UMDs to the internal SSD
2. Buy games in shops with download codes, these games have to come in their actual boxes

What really annoys me about the downloading, is that Sony can fix the prices at £25, what the games currently sell for on the UK PSN. However, whenever I buy PSP games, I get them for £20 or sell, because amazon discounts them, so I hope Sony will reduce the RRP to £20

I don't know how a PSP variant that looked like that would not have touch screen. How would you control the thing when closed? Not logical. Plus a PSP with touch screen would make sense, could get DS and iPhone ports. But that would make it a new PSP model altogether.
