Too late for any of that. I'm also 100% certain that some development has taken place.
Making a Wii game out of an HD game isn't very difficult. The main task is saving the game models in early detail states for Wii use. You build a game model with low texture data and continue to add detail. To make the Wii game along side it you simply save the data at a pre-determined point for Wii and then continue adding detail for the HD SKU's. I've spoken with a guy that worked at IW and he had or had seen others with Wii saved models. It's a pointless task to do if a Wii SKU is not in the planning.
My only guess is after IW finished the models that whomever they handed off programming too (likely Tryarch) that they are either way behind, underfunded/understaffed or some other major hold up that is preventing any official announcements regarding the Wii SKU. Perhaps the problems have become so severe the Wii SKU is canceled but even if that were the case they could at least state as much. |
Sounds reasonable. Either way, I imagine after pretty decent sales of WaW Wii, that any threat to the Wii version's existance is more about the opporitunity cost (ie, moving HD devs to scale it down), rather than turning a profit on the port itself.
