Hello guys I just joined and I want to get into this. Here's a little about me, I'm ThaPr1meK1ng from IGN Blogs some of you may know me, others may not. Now I know that there are already Modern Warfare 2 Wii topics out there but mine may be a little different.
*In this post, it's gonna seem as if I'm comparing Treyarch to Infinity Ward, and World at War to Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2.*
In this post, it's gonna seem as if I'm comparing Treyarch to Infinity Ward, and World at War to Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2.
There are a lot of rumors surrounding Modern Warfare 2 releasing on the Wii, mostly due to IGN. Is it possible for Modern Warfare 2 to release on the Wii? Most definitely! But will it? That's debatable!
What if Activision and Infinity Ward released Modern Warfare 2 on the Wii?
It would make the core gamers even happier to own a Wii this year. Look at all the games coming out. If Call of Duty were to make a triumphant return on the Wii, core gamers would jump out of their socks!
Infinity Ward already has a foundation for Modern Warfare 2, due to Treyarch porting the Call of Duty 4 engine to the Wii. The engine wasn't anywhere close to stellar. Frame rate drops, N64 textures, glitchy gameplay, and vague color palette. World at Wars graphics weren't what they were hyped to be. SHAME ON YOU TREYARCH! But since Infinity Ward is developing Modern Warfare 2 and the Call of Duty 4 engine is their engine, they could easily make it look and feel so much better on the Wii.
But the question is now, what does Infinity Ward need to add/fix for the next Call of Duty game if it did come to the Wii?
As stated above, what Infinity Ward really needs to fix is all of the frame rate issues. World at War ran at 30 FPS.....SOMETIMES! It would frequently drop to around 20-25 frames per second when in large battles. And you were in large battles 90 percent of the time. The textures in World at War for the Wii were poorly compressed. No bump mapping or anything. Textures were identical to some early Playstation 2 titles. When you look at your character's hand in the "Semper Fi" mission, it looks like utter crap. It looks like someone smeared poorly rendered dirt over a pig's nose. The color palette was extremely vague. It appears that all the stages that took place in the daytime, all had green, yellow, and brown. Nothing else! And since the textures weren't great, it felt like you were walking on a flat yellow surface. The sand was terrible. The Russian campaign was just filled with gray and random fire on buildings. Extremely dull! The Call of Duty 4 engine should have looked so much better on the Wii. Treyarch totally "half-assed" it! Well we all should have expected it to be half-assed, considering Treyarch was working on like 3 games and those games were all multi-platform titles. They couldn't really do much in what time/money they had available. But Infinity Ward is only making Modern Warfare 2 for this year, so they would have plenty of time to properly port their engine to the Wii...If it will actually be a port if it does come to Wii.
Infinity Ward would also need to fix the multiplayer aspect for Modern Warfare 2 if it were to be released on the Wii. Only 8 players and 2 modes (Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch, the others are just the same thing as DM and TDM) I mean come on! The online is extremely glitchy in World at War. I'm 100% sure that it is not lag, just terrible online. I shoot someone to pieces, but not one bullet hits the darn person. Knifing, should be called "Attempting to Knife," because you always seem to miss, even though the person is right in your face!
Lastly, lighting and shadow effects in World at War for the Wii were okay I guess. Light cut through the trees, doorways, and windows properly. But don't worry, there's a negative here too. Remember the first mission, the part where the flare goes off, the lighting barely changed at all. For the other consoles, it looks totally different. Secondly, fire really made a difference in the area for the other versions, but in the Wii version, fire didn't change anything, the level of light was unchanged. This could easily be fixed in Modern Warfare 2 if Activision and Infinity Ward released it on Wii.
What do you all think should be fixed in Modern Warfare 2 from World at War if it were to be released on the Wii. Tell me in your comments.
Oh, and I wish Modern Warfare 2 for the would actually have depth of field.
