How am I supposed to play any Nintendo olympic game without an NES Advantage w/ Turbo?
Oh noes!

I think (across both the DS & Wii), this will sell around 1m in Japan - by the end of '07. 1.2m in the US. And around 700k (maybe more?) in Europe.
That's 3m sales by the end of '07.
By the end of '08, I wouldn't be surprised to see total sales closer to 7m-8m. And its possible that it could do 10m (lifetime). Will wait and see...
You're just being crazy.
Wii has lots of options for mini-game games, and the competitive/party nature of the game is lost on DS.
The game should have an appeal similar to Mario Party on Wii. It could do better than MP8, with a longer time to sell at a higher install base, or it could do worse than MP8, seeing how much competition there is in the mini-game market on Wii now.
But it won't do twice as good as MP8, even with 2 platforms.

You have got to be joking...?? The Olympics don't even start until LATE 2008!! Olympics branded games in the past have sold *extremely* well - leading up to, through, and after the Olympics were completed. ... I think 4m for this is actually quite pessimistic. Consider that its hitting both the DS & Wii, will draw in both Sega & Nintendo fans - as well as the general public (thanks to the official Olympics license). Nintendo are publishing this in Japan - and Sega in Europe/US (from memory). I think (across both the DS & Wii), this will sell around 1m in Japan - by the end of '07. 1.2m in the US. 10m!!! Wow that's a bold statement. Are track and field games ever that popular? I know it has Mario and Sonic in it but even still. That would probably put it amongst the 3 highest selling Wii games at the end of this generation (excluding Wii Sports). Oops I forgot it's out on DS as well. But even then 7-8m with possibiliy of 10m seems quite high for this. But if turns out to be a great game rather than a cheap cash in then I guess it might be possible.
Would have been nice if it had online 8 player races.

Electric Toothbrush, duh ;)
There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.
I doesn't matter if it's good or not; either way hardcore gamers won't get it (most of them). It's the casuals that will walk into a store and seeing both Mario and Sonic on one box will instantly buy it. It think >3million WW lifetime.
My themeforest portfolio:
Any game with Mario sells well on the system, take any game and put mario in it and sales will double.
Sorta funny that the thing which could finally give SEGA a much needed kick in the pants is a Mario game.

No sports games are ever that popular. He's being ridiculous.
But I don't think, say, 8M, would put the game in the top 3 for Wii, even excluding Wii Play, actually. Mario Galaxy, Wii Fit, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, even Smash Bros... There's quite a few games I expect will reach 8M on Wii.
As for quality, I think Miyamoto's involvement assures that the play mechanics of the game will be fundamentally sound and a lot of fun. He's not directly involved in development, but he's sort of overseeing the whole project, and that combined with strong previews gives me a lot of faith in the game.

For once we agree, GT :P

Hmmm 4 million is not that high of an estimate! Sure it will not beat SMG or SSBB! But it doesn't have to, those games are on a league of their own.
4 million is a realistic bet, I will eat my nunchuck if it doesn't do atleast MP8 numbers!
