Forums - Microsoft - DLC is becoming overwhelming

Firstly, please don't critisize me, I like going for 100% in my games (achievements) so I nearly always buy DLC.

Nearly every game I have has DLC, I have bought but yet to play

The Maw DLC

Fable II - See the Future

Prince of Persia - Epilouge

Yet to buy

TL&D GTAIV

Halo Wars DLC

Fallout 3 DLC (3/4?) packs!!!

Thank god the new L4D DLC was free ...

Whats the Halo Wars dlc?? never saw it on live

I've never even heard of The Maw..whats that?

I agree though..I'd rather never get DLC and have studios working on and releasing full games quicker.

Halo Wars Strategic Options DLC Announced

04-21-2009, 1:19 PM by Aloysius

Halo Wars, the best selling real-time strategy game on any current generation console, mixes up the battlefield like never before with the Strategic Options Game Add-on Pack, available in the coming weeks exclusively on Xbox 360®.

Strategic Options ushers in the next wave of battle for Halo Wars with three new game modes which dramatically change the multiplayer experience and challenge you to rethink your battle tactics. All 3 game modes will be available in Skirmish or Multiplayer game types.

  • Keepaway Mode: This is the Halo Wars adaptation of "Capture the Flag." Teams battle it out to capture a free-roaming Forerunner Sentinel to score points before the other team. Capture three to five sentinels to claim victory.
  • Tug of War Mode: This mode is all about having a stronger army than your opponent. Defeating enemies is essential, but success is determined by a combination of the army, buildings, and resources left standing in the end.
  • Reinforcement Mode: All active battle units are provided in successive waves. Adapt to their tactics and use the ever-changing set of units to outwit and outlast the enemy.
Strategic Options also adds four new Achievements worth a total of 100 points:
  • One and Done: Score the winning point in a game of Keepaway against Legendary A.I.'s
  • Pull Hard, Pull Deep: Win and never trail in a Tug of War game
  • Freak on a Streak: Gain at least 15 population from a single wave in a Reinforcement game
  • Living Loving Bug: Obtain a Scarab during a Reinforcement game

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

It's not out yet but due this week or next week, an update was released for Halo Wars last week to sort a few issues out before the DLC comes out, made the game much more balanced!

The Halo Wars DLC will be fantastic, got my points ready and waiting!

DLC is fantastic but I do think more of it should be free or a much lower cost, but I think it's great to see more support for games these days,

I'm in the same boat with ya!

I bought a ton of DLC for many games, and never even played them again. Somewhere, somebody's "Bringing Down The Sky" in Mass Effect, or "Using the Force" in Soul Calibur 4, though. Just because it's there doesn't mean I have to buy it. It's for the fans, I guess. As long as the "DLC" isn't on the disc already (fuck you, Capcom), then, it's fine with me.

paid DLC will keep being made because you people buy them. Console gamers are getting ripped off when they buy severely over-priced DLC.

PC gamers have it great, almost all their DLC is completely free - and the ones that aren't free are usually from free-to-play games.

While people bought those COD4 maps for $10, Infinity Ward released them for free on PC.

I'd say stuff like street fighter 4 is the worst, almost 20 dollars for things, that at one time, you simply would have had to hit kick for

I HAVE A DOUBLE DRAGON CAB IN MY KITCHEN!!!!!!

NOW A PUNISHER CAB!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think DLC is a good thing, it keeps companies from constantly releasing IP year after year without making any real strides in gameplay and such.

I would rather spend $10 on DLC then $20-70 on a yearly release of IP.

There is a lot of it, but if you are a fan of the game it is a good way to keep the game fresh.
