Just a question...how many of your predictions have come true??

I agree that a $150 arcade could push the 360 over the top, but am skeptical that it will happen in 2009.

Too many things we are unsure of yet. Waiting for E3 would be a much wiser move.

PS3 will outsell XBox 360 2 to 1 worldwide in weekly console sales when it reaches the $299 price tag, assuming MS sticks with the same prices for their 360 SKUs. PS3 will outsell XBox 360 my a small margin in worldwide in weekly console sales if PS3 reaches the $299 price point and MS responds with $50 price drops on all of their XBox 360 SKUs. Either way it will be PS3 outselling XBox 360 when PS3 price is $299. PS3 will never be outsold eever again whenPS3 reaches $299 price point.

SONY has put their 2009 forcast up 30%. Any fool can see they have big plans in the works. I would put money on them making it, too.

lol, looks like your post has more assumptions then any prediction i have ever seen.  I highly doubt anything in your post will happen.

While your at it, why don't you add in there that you think the PS3 will outsell the Wii when this said pricecut comes out.

 

A $299 PS3 should put the HD consoles close in sales. But there are still a lot of unknown variables: how good are the holiday exclusives, what will the economy be like in 6 months, will the motion controllers enable either of them to compete with the Wii for non-hardcore gamer?

I see the 360 continuing to win the US this holiday, and Sony taking Europe/Japan. Overall sales will come down to:
1) Can MS finally attract casual gamers
2) Does GT5 launch this year
3) How big is the FFXIII bump in Japan

What ps3 requires is the market-share in America (Americans need a 200$ PS3 very badly), Now since we are months ahead of the holidays, a 100 $ price-cut is on the cards, after poor NPD sales record. So this time we will see a repeat of 2007, but with x360 indeed edging out ps3 by small margins. The rest Q1-Q3 2010, will surely see consistent ps3 sales higher than 360's. FFXIII is the Ps3's trump card for Q4 2010.

The final third of this year will more than likely be the reverse of last year. PS3 will be outselling XBox 360 and claw back around 2 to 3 million sales on XBox 360 and narrow the gap down to below 6 million. I would not say PS3 will get close to the Wii because Wii sells to casual gamers and captures more of the market around 70%. PS3 and Xbox 360 mainly sell to the hardcore market which is around 30% of the total market. Last year XBox 360 outsold PS3 every week from 1 September 2008 to 31 December 2008 by around 2.5 million consoles. PS3 should be able to reverse this and with PS3 price cuts PS3 will outsell the XBox 360 between 2 to 3 million units in the last four months of 2009. PS3 has amuch stronger exclusive game line up than the XBox 360 in second half of 2009.
