I believe in Natural selection because its been proven. Its fact.

I do not believe in evolution and the so called "origin of life" because they are theories.

I am Christian, so yes, I do believe we were created by God.

All right I admit that you made me scratch my head on this one. If you believe in natural selection changing the shape and behaviors of future generations, you believe in evolution! That is what evolution is. Evolution has nothing to do with the origin of life.

Hell, what's wrong with being a Christian and buying into evolutionary theory whole-hog?

I'm going to say this in a nicer way. You can believe in Natural Selection and not evolution when it comes to the origin of life, but you still believe in evolution. Because even if believe God created life, natural selection is slowly changing those animals because the most adapted animals survive and pass on those genes. So animals are slowly evolving regardless of what religion you believe.

You get what khuutra trying to say? Khuutra, don't be mean to him, if you are ever going to persuade people with evolution that believe in a deity, you have to do with with love and kindness. Otherwise, they'll become defensive and rightly so.

I was just going to say what rocksmith said.

Its pretty much indisputable that natural selection happens, but evolution is a theory in which I choose not to believe. I find it more believable that we were created by a higher being, God, then us evolving from monkeys or apes, etc.

yes, i am...i'm just trying to explain it in a nicer way. Khuutra, don't be aggresive in these arguements, if you are ever going to persuade people with evolution that believe in a deity, you have to do with with love and kindness. Otherwise, they'll become defensive and rightly so.

I'm religious. I don't understand the mindset by which one can't reconcile the idea that God might use evolution as the mechanic of his Creation.

@coolestguyever: I think you misunderstood was Rocksmith was saying. Or I was, somehow.

If you believe in natural selection, you believe we're not the same creatures that God created, right?

to an extent yes. but with only 6,000-10,000 years of life on earth, according to Christians, there is very little time for any huge changes. But if we were to go a million years into the future(i know most believe the apocalypes will happen before that, but let's say it in this example, it didn't) species will be different because the most adapted will survive that generation, and the most adapted in the next generation will survive and so one. These adaptions will add up into something that looks different.

In 6,000 years the only evolution that could be made is the uniqueness in the color of our skins.

@Rocksmith:

Not all Christians are literal 6-Day, Young Earth Creationists.

i know, but i don't have to persuade those who already believe it. That's pointless. I am trying to persuade those who don't believe in evolution.

It is not possible for someone who believes in the Christian God to believe in evolution. Let me explain. Jesus says in the new testament that everything from Genesis should be taken literally, and is not a made up story, so if you say you are a christian but believe in evolution, that is like saying you are a christian, but not believing in what jesus says; which defeats the purpose of ever being a christian in the first place
