except when you run into games like last remnant which are unbelivably difficult.  You know how frustrating it is to play through a battle for 2 hours and have the boss almost dead, but then die.  Then you have to play through those 2 hours all over again, with no guarantee that you will beat the boss this time.

At least hard games still exist.

My gosh, I have played through this game before and all I have to say is I must have gotten lucky on a couple battles because this game is nigh impossible.  This Mother Freaking game has screwed me over so many times the last couple days that I almost broker my controller by throwing against the wall (thankfully only the wall was damaged)

What the hell was square thinking?  I'm at a point in the game that I have leveled my guys up about as far as they will go, and I still can't win these battles.  Now, it wouldn't be so bad if the battles didn't last like 2 hours, but they do.  When you lose a battle that took you two hours, it is probably the most frustrating things I have ever come across.

EPH YOU SQUARE!

It is a fun game though, but freaking A I'm frustrated!!!!

This is your problem. Like everyone said here, you shouldn't train so much because the enemies' group level matches yours. Just do the obligatory fights you have to until, maybe, near the end of the game. Apparently, the stats boosts you get fighting one group of hard enemies up at that point is more significant than fighting bigger chains of easy enemies at early levels.

Well... this trick is not really useful in the PC version because it seems like they removed the max team level cap. Maybe you should consider buying a gaming rig and the PC version if you're used to grinding in your playthroughs?

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Some Bosses level up with you. Like The Gates of Hell. But they all have a level cap, so if you grind like 10 levels higher then their cap, then you sould be able to beat them. BTW BR of 50 you will never beat the gates of hell.

Battle rank is roughly a measure of the number of enemies you've beaten, it's NOT a measure of your strength. Each of your soldiers have a bunch of different stats, and they level up independently of each other. To level up a stat you have to use it in battle. If you want a strong fighter have one soldier only use combat arts. If you want a strong healer have one soldier only use healing magic, and so on.

Enemies have a battle rank number of their own. Strong enemies typically have a high BR, while weak enemies have a low BR. You gain stats in battle based on the difference between your BR and the enemy BR. Thus in general fighting a strong enemy (high BR) will significantly improve your stats with each battle. Fighting weak enemies (low BR) will hardly improve your stats at all.

Since the players BR slowly increases with each battle regardless of the enemy strength, this makes it increasingly harder to find enemies that will boost your stats as you progress through the game. Eventually your BR will reach a point where you won't be able to improve your stats at all anymore. And if you mostly fought weak enemies up until this point, you may not be strong enough to beat the final bosses.

To play this game properly do the following from the start of the game:

1) Never ever fight weak enemies. When doing the sidequests dodge all monsters and fight only the bosses.
2) Never ever chain enemies. This will raise your BR much faster than fighting each enemy alone, something you'll want to avoid at all cost.
3) Don't do any sidequests until you have all the leaders you intend to use in your party.
4) If you find a particularly strong regular enemy that respawns, keep fighting him again and again until you no longer recieve any stat upgrades from him.
5) Decide early on which leaders you'll want to use, and stick with them. You will get some powerful leaders late in the game, but by then your BR will be too high. You won't be able to boost their stats enough.
6) Read the various FAQ's available on sites like GameFAQ's. Don't bother with the strategy guide, it's garbage. Learn about the skill grind trick, arcana arts and weapon arts.

If you do everything correctly your soldiers will be insanely powerful at the end of the game, and you'll beat even the hardest bosses in just a few turns.

On my third playthrough Torgal's Hawkarang weapon art did an average of 200K damage, while each of my 4 units had close to 9000 HP. I killed the Absolute Conquerer in 2-3 turns.

There are plenty of people who have beaten Gates of Hell at a BR between 20 and 30.

wow, thanks, that is actually really helpful.  Of course, I will have to start my game over again to take advantage of this, but I think I will have to anyway... *sigh*

FYI: Early in the game, Blackdale, Second Entrance is a fantastic area to level up.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

ya  the best thing for you to do is to level up skills and try not to level up the battle rank.. to make the battle rank level slower .. DON'T link the monsters.

you also need to use some battle formations during bosses..
