Forums - Gaming - Yahoo: Apple maybe taking on Gamming Heavy weight

man EA is really big too......
this could really give mac a gaming notoriety. One that could rival Microsoft games studios.

MGS...Seems like Sony and Nintendo are the tops for first party studios...

This is an intersting move, but I'm not sure why Apple would take on this debt staddled mess that is EA...I think people are just stirring the pot to see how it shakes out, but then again, Apple is loaded with CASH.

If Apple takes over EA that would be a big plus!!!

Apple doesn't want to take over EA to be a softare-only gaming company.  Apple wants to release another console.  This would cause a shake up of the video game industry.  Apple would come in and probably end up pushing Sony out of gaming.

I could imagine an Apple console... all the power of a 360... running at the price of 4 Launch PS3's...

how so?

I would not be so confident in Apple my friend. Steve Jobs can't live forever.

Removing faulty organs, embalming him and reanimating his mummy with black magic should work... At least it worked for the last years!!!

i dk, i can see Apple finally making something cheaper if its going to still be decent. They already cleaned up music players, why not consoles, pvr's, home pc's. Infact Apple have a VESTED FU-----ING INTEREST in smokin MS out of home consoles don't they? After all, Apple can't compete with Windows PC's, why not go for the tv first?

Apple already tried to do a sort of set-top box, but it wasn't one of its most successful products, unlike what happened with iPod, in this case cheap boxes of the most differend types kept on ruling. But consoles are different and Wii crushing two heavyweight rivals should tell us that everything can happen. And maybe an Apple console with STB and living room PC capabilities, all served by the legendary Apple ergonomics could succeed in what MS feared from PS3 but didn't happen.

^exactly

stb was crap. They need to engineer a home pc with the lot, including pointer/mouse type controller, and price it competitively. They can do this.

If Apple buys EA instead of making a new console (smart thing to do) then they wont even make any games for 360, because its microsoft, where a PS3 is basically a Mac (kindof). So its all good for me, not sure about 360 owners.
