Forums - Sales - More respect should be shown to the effort put in to tracking sales.

Most people show respect but some can be very rude can this be over come.

Tracking sales is incorrect not a fact so if we don't agree how can we state this without being rude or disrespectfull.

My personal pet hate is when someone attacks the site cause they don't agree with nubers there is a better way.

 I would like to hear all your respectfull idea's.

Be straight up, no secret adjustments if they were wrong they should tell us.

If they under tracked a game and add 200k they can make a post/news item about it.

what he said

I think what many people on this site fail to realize that vgc does sales estimates, not sales tracking. Discrepancies are to be expected, and they are usually fixed within a month.

And yes, I agree with OP, people should be showing more respect and be less demanding.

@twingo

Secret adjustments? I think you have to realize that these numbers are estimates. You're acting like vgc is a corporation and by telling you one set of numbers one type and lowering them later and you lost money as an investor.

Chill out, this websites and its information is free.

And it would not be practical to post every adjustment ever.

There are thousands of games in the database, and in a single week there will often be hundreds of minor adjustments.

I would like to see a news post detailin each of the hardware adjustments, but detailing software would be way too much work.

And you can usually discover when a game is adjusted by reading the wall

^ just do it in a forum thread put it in a CHART call it like Sales Adjustments: DATE

Name Old(millions)

New(millions)

Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and bolts .5

.35

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the patriots 3.93  4.25

That's not what it would look like. For a 10 week old game, it would have to look like this

Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts Old: Week 1 0.5, week 2 0.25, week 3 0.1, week 4 0.09, week 5 0.08, week 6 0.07, week 7 0.08, week 8 0.09, week 9 0.05 week 10 0.06 New: Week 1 0.56, week 2 0.21, week 3 0.15, week 4 0.12, week 5 0.1, week 6 0.03, week 7 0.08, week 8 0.07, week 9 0.07 week 10 0.08.

They don't just adjust the total sold, they adjust each week's sales

@gearbox

As I was implying earlier, why are adjustments necessary to point out?

You're solution: Look at the total sales number from last week. This week, look at last weeks total sales numbers again...if it's lower, there was an adjustments, if it's higher, there was adjustment. There's your notificaiton.

EDIT: What you are asking is the site operators to do is VERY time consuming and has very little benefit in most cases. Costs far outway the benefits. If the functionality was already designed into the system that would be another thing, but is not (maybe vgc 2.0)

@twingo,Gearbox

It's the adjustments that make this site special as they make the effort to stay as accurate as possible.

It would be nice for large adjustments to be notified.

twingo the term secret seem to imply a bad motive this could be put a better way.

@ ymeaga1n

Yes some seem to forget that all this work that is done on the site is free.

@scottie

you're so right it would that a ton of time to report all adjustments.

Yeah there should be log of all adjustments being made instead of ninja edits.
