Forums - Sales - The PC sales thread

HELLO. This thread will be an attempt to gather the often obscure sales numbers of PC games. The objective is to track LTD sales of games, but with sources (e.g. Valve recently announced the non-Steam sales of its games, so we will count that).

Surely it will be something difficult, and even though there are thousands of PC games,I don't expect us to have a lot, and personally, I'm not interested in the sales of games like Stalin vs. Martians.

There's also the "problem" of wikipedia numbers and other questionable sources, for example, in the backup copy of Little Big Adventure's website, it's stated that the sales of the game were over ~350,000 copies in 1994, so not only the source is questionable, but it's absolutely not LTD. However, it's all we have! I would add it, but I'd like to know your opinions first.

Another problem is separating PC sales from console sales, which obviously are joined together many times.

And another issue is the "LTD", which will be different for various games, and I wasn't planning to include them in the list, as usually the source has a date, so unless you guys think it's important, I will not add a "last updated" date.

The small s will be a link to the source

so, please contribute to thread, I'll keep updating the first post. I think we could try asking some guys too, for example, in Capcom-Unity we could try to get some numbers from Sven, although it's highly unlikely it will happen lol and for some smaller third parties I think it's possible too (the World of Goo guys, etc)

Good luck finding data.

Trying to find PC games sale numbers is like trying to find a needle in a haystack  but I know that  Crysis sold over 1 million and Spore sold over 2 million as I know of.  But these numbers were like last year.

PC gaming rules.....

The Spore website has a counter for total number of users. Probably not all users activated their game, but there might be some who only had the Creature Creator. Probably the two factors even each other, because when they announced 2 million sales, it was at 2 000 000.

Now it is at 2 795 551

but that's the point, it's difficult and you don't even know where to find them. with this thread at least we will have an index to search, or something similar.

I'll add Crysis, Spore and STALKER.
