It`s nice, that both MetaCritic and GameRankings track some review scores for games. BUT, any review is just an OPINION.
Of`course, if a game has a high score on MC or GR this in most cases means, that this game DEFINITELY is WORTH a TRY.
BUT here is a catch, for those who think that only games with 90+ scores on MC or GR are an AAA titles. Here is an example - Simple math, if game gets like 10 reviews with 9 score, and like 2 reviews with 8 scores, the AVERAGE score will be only 88,3.
Just remember, that a reviewer is a human, he may like or not like a game. And just because 2 reviewers gave an 8, while 10 or more gave a 9, the game do not lose an AAA status, because a 9 is a GREAT score for any game. It`s stupid to ignore those 10-20 reviews with score of 9, just because 2 other gave an 8.
Anyway, it`s for you to decide whom to trust and whose review(opinion) to respect. My point, that GR and MC are just guiding to games, which are worth a try, but definitely can`t be used as a measure of a game being an AAA(especially with having in mind, that they decide which review/opinion for a game to include and which one is not) or not. And in the end it`s you who decides, which game is an AAA or not, after playing it. But remember, that even in this case, that will be also just an opinion. =)
