this isn't really about denouncing God, but rather its more about how strong your core values are. Most everyone here is pretty much skirting the issue by making a joke of it or saying "well I don't believe in God anyways LOL"

If the OP was "if you could only save your wife or your child, who would you save?" most people would still skirt the issue by saying "I don't have a wife OR a kid, so I don't have to worry LOL"

I would denounce god.

^This is basically what I'd be betraying with my actions because I wouldn't be fighting for people's right to freedom of belief, neither sacrificing myself for it. Aside for betraying that simply on an instinct (valuing my life), I would do the same thing given time to think about it because the impact on society would be far from recognizing it as following that principle for the sake of people's rights, it would be considered just martyrdom.
