Looking at the hardware sales for the big 3, the trend seems to show that the total worldwide figure for them are,
Wii ~= Ps3 + Xbox 360
Is this going to be how things are until their decendants come into play?

PS3 and 360 sales combined are more than Wii's sales and they are gonna remain that till the end of this gen

With some help from the 360's extra year on the market. Wii has consistently (not always) been above the 50% mark since its release.
Surely, everyone could see the ~ and knows what it means?
Currently, the market seems to be balanced that way, no console is able to get additional market share, and your equality is currently right in all three territories in weekly numbers.
The question is, will the Wii get another boost later in this gen, for example with games like Wii Sports Resort, or with late big hitters like Dragon Quest X. If not, the situation will remain stable and the HD twins might even gain some market share back, but I don't think the Wii will drop under 45 % ever again.
There are a lot of customers out there and Nintendo is dedicated to reaching all of them. They've gone beyond the existing market to reach these customers. I expect they'll continue to do this throughout the Wii's life.
They want a Wii in every home. Will they pull this off? I don't know. But they seem to be the only ones willing to go after new customers to do it.
I think the equilibrium will shift a couple more times before the generation is over. Surely the Wii has to cut price at some point in its life, right?
Right?!

Does it really?!?
Does it!!??
Yeah, it has been quiet for sometime with the approximate ratio Wii = PS360 +/-5% world wide.
IMO, if things remain that way throughout '09, it'll stay that until the end of this gen.

Too many question marks and exclamation points!!!
Why?!?!?!???
Who knows? Maybe Nintendo will just do like the did with DSLite, come out with a Wii-i and sell it for more.
I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.
