Forums - Sony - Do you think that people are wrong about InFamous?

About pronouncing it, that is. As in, do you think that there are a lot of (younger) gamers out there who pronounce it as "In-FAME-us" instead of "IN-fuh-mus".(in + famous instead of the right pronunciation)

Only asking because I heard a kid today try and preorder it the incorrect way at Gamestop, much to the amusement of the wisecracking clerks.

the capitalisation of the "f" makes it look like 2 words in+famous so I guess we'll need to listen to how the devs etc. say it to find out

reminds me of that scene from "The Three Amigos"

I can understand it being pronounced both ways. Yes, infamous is pronounced in-fuh-mus but since the game is called inFamous I can see why people say in-famous.

Are you sure it is indeed pronounced "infamous"? Like Spankey (haha I love your name) said, the capital F makes it seem debatable. I've never heard anyone talk of this title in person, so I've never heard it's name being spoken.

I pronounce it In-Famous

I'm sure it's pronounced in-fuh-mous. The alternative just sounds dumb. I think having the 'f' in upper case is to go with the idea the idea that you can either be good or bad (famous or infamous).

here =D

it's somewhere at the beginning

Yep, the capitalization certainly has the sense of reflecting the villain/superhero idea. As such, shouldn't both pronunciations considered valid?

After all, the double meaning is the whole point of the name.

PS: yay, a light-hearted thread :)
