Forums - General - How many users on these boards actually support "The Theory of Evolution"?

Even the major proponents of Intelligent Design in the scientific community are giving up on ID. That shows you how sound its logic is.

Can you give me some proof of this? Or can you give me the reasons why they decided to leave the theory and what ideas on the otherside made them relent?

Is that really a mistake? All races are more or less evolved in some areas.

The funny thing is that there is only ONE RACE: The Human Race!

We use it the way that we do now because of our entrenchments and because of the beliefs of ignorant European Explorers of the past.

It is excepted and even a matter of PRIDE in most or all factions but we are all Human.

Evolution happens every day, all around us. Almost everyone accepts that, some people just have difficulty seeing it in a larger timescale.

Give me an example of how unintelligently we were designed.

Evolution theory - Finland.

I don't believe in ID or any other form of creationism. Besides, even the bible, aswell as ID hypothesis, says that you don't need higher lifeforms to create life (quite an odd contradiction).

Asking "whether to believe in evolution" is misstated. The question should be "do you think evolution theory correctly explains natural phenomena of evolution".

Ask a woman once a month.

Or... urinary infections due to proximity of the anus and urethra in women. That's just great design.

That's not even getting into all the chemical imbalances in our brain causing mountains of psychiatric illnesses.

If we were designed, our body is the work of a bad engineering intern with a bad work ethic, not a supreme being. (some of you probably know who I'm paraphrasing from)

Oh, i just noticed you had a microevolution-macroevolution discussion going. The macroevolution argument you see from creationists, is only a rhetoric "trap" to jam the discussion. Basically the demand to prove macroevolution would be to prove it doesn't happen via microevolution.

@Manus Justus: I'd remember reading a couple of years ago about a study/studies concerning atom spins and delayless information transport, where the results referred back to causality. Can't remember what study it was, or where i specifically read it.

A group of engineers are sitting around at a party, discussing the nature of the God, and who designed women.

The mechanical engineer states that God must also be a mechanical engineer because "if you look at all the pulleys and levers that drive the body, how the tendons and muscles and bones all work together, well, it's just amazing."

The chemical engineer says that no, God has to be a chemical engineer because "if you look at all the chemical processes that drive the body, how the hormones and the brain and the glands and everything else all interact, well, it's just astounding."

The electrical engineer says that no, God has to be an electrical engineer because "if you look at the circuitry of the body, how the thousands upon millions of nerve cells transmit signals from one part to another, well, it boggles the mind."

The civil engineer speaks up last of all and says, no, God is definitely a civil engineer, because "only a civil engineer would run a sewer through a playground. "

JKJK

But seriously I will have to say evolution.

Tease.

@Squilliam: Well at least the engineer made sure no sewage runs through it while the playground is in use... could have been worse ;)

Wess this post gave me a headache, and CHYUII, you aren't helping.

Nothing is "more" or "less" evolved than anything else, ebcause evolution is not a linear process! That's a stupidi dea that's been perpetuated by Saturday morning cartoons and the Mario Bros. movie - there's no such thing as "devolution" i.e. evolution in reverse, because evolution is not linear - evolution is the adaptation to a given environment. You can't be "less evolved" than somehting else, you just evolved differently. I'm not more evolved than my dog, it just means that my ancestors changedd in ways that allowed them to fill a very different but still specific niche - we just interpret that as "higher evolution" or higher complexity as a leftover line of thought from religious doctrine that taught we were of a higher state than other animals.

We aren't.

Different races can't be more or less evolved. That's stupid and it's racist.

But it's true that we didn't involve in the same way, tooo. Me and my fiance come from different evolutionary backgrounds because our ancestors had to fill separate evolutionary niches in order to adapt best to their environments. And if we have kids, well, they'll be different too.

Sorry if it seems like I'm ranting, it's just that people interpreting evolution as being a linear process really, really burns me up.
