Forums - Sony - Why does PS3 games have DLC if its on a Blue ray?

SamuelRSmith said:
Alas, some DLC is stored on the disc.

That's not DLC.  Those are micro-transactions.

You're not buying downloadable content, you're buy the right to unlock content on media you already own.

Around the Network

DLC's come after the game is released. Would you like them to release a new retail disc every time a DLC pack comes out. I wouldn't. Not only would that be tons of discs lying around the house, but that would cost the company an arm and a leg to do that.

... This feels like a weak bashing/trolling attempt... A VERY weak trolling attempt...

I guess the dev's are supposed to release a new retail copy each time they wanna add something to the game??

DLC has redered Blue ray disc to be pointless. Apples newest laptops dont even have a DVD Player!!! Nothing!

Well Explain LBP then?   I have heard it takes up 40GB of space on a Dual Layer 50GB Blu-ray Disc.  How would that fit on a DVD?  Would the Story mode levels have to be DLC then?

Sony also said that Heavenly Sword has 9 gigs of music. Sony is just trying to justify their media format. If games like Fable 2, GTA 4, Gears of wAr 2, Mass Effect, can all fit on a DVD, it should be able to burp LPB. Resistence Fall of man was also supposed to be like 17 gigs according to Sony.

The size of LBP was due to the many video's [tutorial video's]. Same thing for Lost Odyssey [many prerendered cutscenes]. LBP dev's had the option of DL BD Disc, while LO dev's had to spread the game accross 4 discs.

Can you prove that it wasn't????

Examples like LBP and LO seem like justification to me...
