Your point? It still needs to get smaller and judging from the pics they can't go much smaller. Also, blu-ray drive and power brick still need taken care of and the cooling system changed once they start using the 45nm chips. Just saying a slim PS3 is still a year away at the earliest.

Alright, that makes sense. And I agree with you, I think a redesign is unlikely, see my first post. However, Sony may not be in this situation much longer, putting a redesin, at sometime in the future, likely. |
Alright then. :)
And yeah, I also fully expect Sony to release a redesigned PS3 sometime in the future. Definitely. Just not anytime really soon.

^ cooling system is already smaller notice on the motherboard the chips are closer to each other? it allows them to have one smaller fan then a bigger one.
^ not side by side but you can see all the heat sinks that the new one doesnt have and the whit part is a part of the case. also you can see the old one is on a scale which is about 2lbs
I am aware that the current system has smaller parts than the originals. This is not new information. All I am saying is it still needs to get smaller. Obviously this is the case or they'd have a slim out already.
They need to shrink the mobo more, shrink the cooling, move the hard drive, export the power supply, and shrink the blu-ray drive. Right now it can only get as slim as the blu-ray drive. I guess they could make it slimmer if they did this and abandoned the PS3 sloping style.
